- Lesung Bali Cooking Class - Situated on the western side of Ubud, our class is nestled in a lush, green area that exudes the charm of the countryside. Upon arrival, participants are taken on a traditional market tour to purchase local spices (available in the morning class only). Following this, a visit to a local home offers insights into Balinese culture, lifestyle, and architectural placement.
The class then proceeds to our farm, where the menu is decided upon. Participants explore the farm to harvest the spices needed for the class. Our Balinese chef will then demonstrate how to prepare authentic Balinese dishes using the fresh ingredients gathered from the farm.
Throughout the class, participants will learn Balinese cooking techniques, such as chopping and pounding spices with a Lesung (mortar and pestle). The chef will provide detailed explanations on cooking methods, ingredient quantities, and additional requirements based on the chosen menu. A variety of menu options are available, including vegetarian, vegan, and regular choices, allowing participants to select their preference during the class.
