• Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - The Pyramid of Djoser, also known as the Step Pyramid, is an archaeological site located in the Saqqara necropolis, Egypt, northwest of Memphis. This 6-tiered, 4-sided structure is the earliest monumental stone building in Egypt. Constructed in the 27th century BC during the Third Dynasty, it served as the burial site for Pharaoh Djoser, designed by his vizier, Imhotep. The pyramid is the focal point of an extensive mortuary complex within a vast courtyard, surrounded by ceremonial structures and decorations.
• Pyramids of Dahshur - The Bent Pyramid, the first of the Dahshur pyramids, was constructed between 2613–2589 BC under King Sneferu’s reign. It was the initial attempt at creating a smooth-sided pyramid but was unsuccessful due to miscalculations regarding the structural weight on the soft ground, which included sand, gravel, and clay, prone to subsidence. Additionally, the blocks were cut in a way that led to improper weight distribution, resulting in the pyramid’s angle being incorrect, hence the name “the Bent Pyramid.” Learning from these errors, King Sneferu commissioned the Red Pyramid, which was successfully completed as a smooth-sided, freestanding pyramid, reaching a height of 341 feet (104 meters).
