Saqqara (Sakkara) Pyramids - Begin your journey with a pickup from your chosen location by your tour guide to explore the three ancient necropolises. The tour kicks off with a visit to the Saqqara necropolis, where you will see the Pyramid of Djoser, the world’s earliest colossal stone building. This structure is a cornerstone of Egyptian history, serving as a model for subsequent pyramids with enhancements.
The pyramids at Giza and other nearby desert locations are remnants of an ancient city and civilization that declined long before Cairo’s establishment. This civilization named the area Memphis, which was the power center of the Old Kingdom (2686—2181 BC) of Ancient Egypt, home to the pharaohs who constructed the pyramids. -
Saqqara Necropolis - Saqqara is one of several notable necropolis sites near Cairo, offering impressive sights and significant archaeological value. Saqqara may even hold more interest for archaeologists than Giza. This vast site contains burials from before the Old Kingdom through the Greek Period of Egyptian history.
The most renowned structure at Saqqara is Djoser’s Step Pyramid. Dating back to the 3rd dynasty (2667—2448 BC), it was the first all-stone complex ever constructed on earth. It introduced an important architectural innovation for the Giza Pyramids and other later pyramids in the 4th dynasty and beyond.
Djoser’s pyramid was the first to use multiple mastabas (rectangular tomb structures) stacked to form a step pyramid. This construction paved the way for the smooth sides of the Giza Pyramids and the smaller 5th and 6th dynasty pyramids found at Saqqara and nearby sites like Dahshur and Abu Sir. -
Step Pyramid of Djoser - The oldest stone structure in the world, the step pyramid of King Djoser, dates back to 2670 BC. The pyramid is part of a vast complex (Colonnaded Entrance, Sed Festival complex, Enclosure wall, North and South Pavilions, Southern Tomb, and thousands of surrounding tombs). With your knowledgeable tour guide, you will learn much more about King Djoser, his talented architect Imhotep, and the new discoveries in Saqqara. (Please note that entering the pyramid or the southern tomb requires a special ticket) The guide will be happy to assist.
-
Pyramids of Dahshour - After lunch, the tour continues with a visit to the Dahshur Pyramids (Red and Bent Pyramids), which were a significant step and learning experience for Ancient Egyptians transitioning from step-sided to smooth-sided pyramids. Dahshur has several pyramids, but the most famous are the Red and Bent Pyramids, among the oldest, largest, and best-preserved in Egypt, built from 2613–2589 BC. (Time spent at each location is flexible according to the customers)
-
Red Pyramid - Also known as the North Pyramid, it is considered the first classic pyramid built in ancient Egyptian history. It is called red due to its reddish limestone quarried from the Tura Mountains in Cairo. There is a possibility to enter the pyramid for free! A unique example of early pyramid development in Egypt, this was the second pyramid built by Sneferu. It is the only pyramid in Egypt that still has its outer layer intact and is in good condition. You will have the chance to enter this pyramid as it is now open inside. (Please, if you are claustrophobic or have any health issues, do not enter) This one is very challenging, and you must be fit.

-
Memphis and Sakkara - The tour continues with a visit to the city that was once the ancient capital of Egypt, Memphis. This city features the colossal statue of Ramses II, the great Alabaster Sphinx, and numerous ruins. Memphis was the power center of the Old Kingdom (2686 BC) of Ancient Egypt and the home of the pharaohs who built the pyramids.
-
Mit Rahina Museum - A special museum for the famous statue of King Ramesses the Great, dating back to 1279 BC. A huge limestone statue in excellent condition. Ramesses the Great ruled the Egyptian empire for about 67 years.
-
The Sphinx of Memphis - The Sphinx of Memphis is a stone sphinx located near the remains of Memphis, Egypt. The statue, made from Egyptian Alabaster, is still in very good condition and may represent the famous Queen Hatshepsut from 1479 BC. You will then begin your journey back to your hotel.
