A long but beautiful day! - We were picked up from our city hotel in Cancun at around 5:25 am and arrived at Cenote Azul around 11 am. There we could enjoy our breakfast with a view of the cenote and then swim in it. Around 12:40 p.m. we continued by bus to Cocalitos, a beautiful place where we could swim, take nice photos and have a drink until about 2 p.m. After that we were taken to the boats where we went across the blue lagoon and could see Cenote Negro and Esmeralda and swim in the lagoon. After the boat tour we could walk to the restaurant where we had lunch around 4:15 p.m. and had free time until 5:30 p.m. to take pictures in front of the Bacalar letters or to walk around the village. We were back at the hotel around 11pm. The drive was very long and I would recommend taking enough water and snacks with you. Our tour guides Gabriel and Genner were great! Gabriel explained interesting information in Spanish and Genner then told us the most important things again in English. Breakfast and lunch were delicious! It was a nice experience! :-)

Plan B due to windy weather - Our first day tour in Cancun. It was windy that morning. The tour guide came to let me know that it was not safe to be in the water. I'm so glad they have plan B. We took a ferry and drive our own scooter in Holbox Mosquito. Our tour guide was very nice, they make sure we are safe and enjoying our trip. Thank you for the Holbox experienced!

Cenote and Bacalar tour. - The excursion started off with us being picked up from the zona hotelera at 5am and picking up others in playa del carmen and Tulum. We arrived at almost 11am to cenote azul and we enjoyed a nice breakfast and hour swim. Please keep in mind that sunscreen is not permitted. Also drinks are not included with the food so make sure to take money, preferably pesos. We then dried up and got back on the bus to a beach club to swim in Bacalar lake for another hour. There are several photo ops with a stunning view. After we dried up, we got back on the bus for a pontoon ride. We were given a brief history of the lake and some areas that are preserved for birds. We then stopped at another area of bacalar to swim for an hour. Sunscreen is also not allowed in the lake. After the swim, they took us back to another restaurant, where we ate our lunch. After we ate, we had another hour to browse around where the vendors were selling souvenirs and snacks. The tour guide Arturo was very informative, friendly, and he speaks multiple languages. The driver was also very helpful and if you needed to enter the bus early he had no issue letting you in. Overall, I had a great trip but I had some cons. The trip says it will be a maximum of 20 people, but we were picked up in a large bus which was packed. I want to say our group was 55 people, which made our drive back home longer because there were so many stops along the way. Also, it says the tour guide company is Holbox and Bacalar tour, but we were hosted by Suaste tours. Again, we had a great time, but wanted to give an honest review.

Bacalar is is unmatched beauty - There is no where else I've found that has waters as beautiful as Bacalar. Be careful with local food and drink as they do not wash their food with purified water so if you're not used to ingesting mexico water, just be careful and enjoy the beautiful lagoon and cenote!

The most fabulous colors - We had a beautiful day into bacalar. We were picked up in playacar at 6:20 am and transfered to a beautiful coach in playa del carmen by 7:00. We then stop at playa Azul cenote for breakfast which was delicious and swimming in the clear water. Then onto bacalar lagoon at a club for swimming at hammocks and water swings. We had refreshments here. Onto the pontoon boat after this. We saw the black hole cenote and got to swim in the bacalar lake. We were then taken back to our lunch at another restaurant. Lunch was delicious too I had chicken. We were allowed to tour Bacalar city then where we got to see the fort Felipe and the bacalar letter sign. This was an English tour and the guide on the bus does speak clear. English he gives us direction. The boat guide and most people in bacalar we found to only speak spainish. That limited us. I can only understand a small amount of spainish. The German girls could not understand any. We paired up with them. Another woman on the boat spoke some English and she was helpful too. We all enjoyed the tour. Personally I would stay a night or 2 on this lake in bacalar it's stunning beautiful!!! It is a long day on a bus, but the centoes, lagoon and lake are fantastic.

Trip with this company not suited to English speakers - When we booked this trip there was the option for Spanish or English speaking tour. We chose English. We were the only English speakers in a very large group of Spanish speaking tourists. The company that offered this isn’t really set up for offering a tour to English speakers. They did make an attempt by having one guy on the bus that spoke English but we felt like an inconvenience on the tour and we weren’t given the interesting and useful information that was relayed to the Spanish speaking guests. We were told the basics..”go here at this time” “this is where we are going next” etc. we felt we missed out on a lot of the tour as a result. We also felt that we were very much an afterthought and we had been put on the Spanish tour to make up numbers. Bacalar is beautiful. The restaurant they took us to for lunch was great. The pontoon ride was fun. If you’re English speaking and don’t have a knowledge of conversational Spanish then don’t book this. You’d be better to hire a car and do the drive yourself from the Cancun area. It’s a very very long uncomfortable bus ride and if you’re driving that far and not even benefitting from local knowledge about the things and places you’re passing then driving it yourself at your own pace seems a better option to me. Or see what options your hotel offers since they are always more catered towards the English speaking guests.
