The Sanctuary of Loiola (Azpeitia): This remarkable Baroque complex is situated 45 km southwest of San Sebastián. It was constructed to honor Saint Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus, around his birthplace (the Holy House), which is preserved as a relic within. The basilica is notable for its circular dome.

The Hermitage of La Antigua (Zumarraga): Often referred to as “the cathedral of the hermitages,” it is a prime example of Basque Romanesque architecture. The interior is particularly striking, combining stone with a wooden structure reminiscent of a ship’s hull. It can be accessed by following the Urola River from Loiola.

The Sanctuary of Arantzazu (Oñati): Nestled in a breathtaking natural setting after ascending the Arantzazu mountain pass, this sanctuary is the most representative example of contemporary Basque art. It features works by artists such as Jorge Oteiza (including the notable sculpture of the 14 apostles), Eduardo Chillida, and Néstor Basterretxea.
