Equipped with torpedo buttons, adventurers can create a feeding frenzy right from their viewing porthole for an additional charge. On the way back to the marina, enjoy breathtaking harbor views on the top deck of the submarine. Weather permitting, undersea garden tours depart hourly year round from mid-morning until an hour before sunset. **we highly suggest you secure transportation to Catalina island prior to booking tour to confirm you can get to the tour as the boat to the island sells out quickly. Catalina Express or Newport Flyer for your transportation needs.

The main attraction of this unique vessel allows six feet underwater viewing while staying dry so eager seafarers can get up close and face-to-face with schools of fish anticipating treats fired away from custom designed fish food torpedo buttons. Designed after America’s first nuclear powered submarine, the USS Nautilus, the 45-minute journey is the destination itself as our captain and his crew ventures out on an exploratory mission to the undersea gardens of Avalon Bay.
- We are located on Catalina Island, You must secure transportation to the island to take the tour. There are no refunds if you miss the tour
- Not wheelchair accessible. Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not recommended for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair
- Your tickets will be held at the will-call window for collection on the day of the tour.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- Infants (2 years old and under) must be ticketed on a USCG vessel; fare is free-of-charge but fees apply
- You MUST arrive 15 minutes prior to boarding to check in. We leave promptly at the scheduled time and cannot wait. When booking travel to the island please make sure to give enough time from arrival to island to get to tour departure location.
- Late Policy: The Nautilus expedition departs from only one location. If you arrive late, we are not able to provide you with a refund. Our tours are scheduled to provide you with the best experience possible, and we are not able to make any exceptions if you are late.

Wonderful experience with a 4 year old! - This made our whole trip! You get to see TONS of fish and everyone that works here is so pleasant. Brad in particular made our visit a blast. It was well worth the money (I would choose this over the glass bottom boat anyday!) love the ride up on top back to the pier!

Amazing Submarine Ride - Me and my husband has an amazing time on the submarine. We purchased the 16 shots of food. We were able to get a close look at all the different species. It was so colorful and beautiful. Captain Mike was such a big help with other resources on the island. Definitely will be going out there again and enjoying the scene again.

Under the sea - It was a lot of fun and recommend this tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and we saw so many fish. Buy the fish food it's worth it. They kelp forest where beautiful and saw huge schools of sardines.

Loved the yellow submarine - This is a must do for anyone who hasn’t spent much time under the sea. Don’t be surprised to see swimming sea birds down there as well.

Nice experience - This experience was so cool! You are able to feed the fish and see all the fish life in Catalina. Once the tour is coming to a close, you are given the opportunity to go on top of the submarine and take photos. I would say the only con is we couldn’t hear what the gentleman was telling us during the tour when talking about the type of fish we were seeing. But other than that, a great tour!

Great experience for a family with kids - We booked 9:45am ride, and we were the only ones on the semi-submarine. The guide was nice and offered discount for the fish food bomb. Lots of fishes at each stop, although all very similar types. Nevertheless, we had a lot of fun, all to ourselves. Well worth it.

So beyond disappointing!Boring.stayed very close2shore. Same fish come2feed. Look out top window and c surface/top - Nothing spectacular to see at all! You can see the surface of the water from the window. And you can see the floor of the ocean the whole time. Stayed at/very near to shore. So don’t expect much

Not worth it. Barely any... - Not worth it. Barely any fish to see. The only way to basically what looks like trout is to spend an extra $20 on fish food and propel it out the side of the submarine which makes a large cloud it’s hard to see fish through anyways. It’s super loud in the submarine. Our 3 year old was scared and clingy to use the whole time with her head buried in shoulder so wasn’t worth it for her. Another toddler was crying from fear the whole time because of noise. Money is better spent in a golf cart.
