This location is excellent for birding and wildlife viewing, situated just outside the city limits.
- Barton Springs Pool - On this safari hike, explore the stretch of Barton Creek just upstream from the iconic Barton Springs Pool. Learn about Eliza Springs and the local wildlife, including the sacred Blind Salamanders and Barton Springs Salamanders. We’ll also visit a cave during this 2.2-mile hike, which takes approximately 2 hours before returning to the original meeting point.

The Texas Hill Country is rapidly expanding, and people are eager to discover amazing natural spots for future swims, hikes, and outdoor adventures. We explore sections along the Violet Crown Trail in Central Austin, as well as nearby areas of the Hill Country.
Gain insights into the land’s heritage, including Eliza Springs and Barton Springs, along with the native flora and fauna, such as salamanders, bobcats, and armadillos! You’ll learn the scientific names of these plants and creatures, as well as the traditional “Texan” terms for them. It’s fun for the entire family, so come and take a hike!
