Boating is always the best, even if Ryan sucked - This was actually on Lake Austin bc of water levels—obviously the tour operator can’t control that…and it was still a good ride on the lake. We visited a couple of cool bars/restaurants and enjoyed a ride on the beautiful lake. It turned out to be a pretty private ride for me and my daughter as we were the only patrons. The downside was Captain Ryan decided it wasn’t enough tip for just two of us and literally sent a message at the pickup time that we would have a different captain. It was pretty awkward to hear from the new captain how he got played by his co-worker. Here’s the deal-if you have a minimum number of needed people for your captain to feel properly compensated—then cancel the ride if you DONT meet it. We felt for the guy but our budget didn’t allow for a bigger tip. His coworker was an ass. He tried but he was literally bummed and it overshadowed our experience a bit. Other than that it was worth the $ and a good time. If you get Captain Ryan—good luck. He didn’t leave the best impression.

Oh No You Didn't, Viator - Not. Good. The trip starts in a remote feeling park that requires a long walk down a very steep incline (the longest boat ramp I've ever seen) to a small pontoon boat. The pontoon boat grinds itself against the cement and you climb up approximately 30 inches (no steps, no assistance offered) to the half shaded boat deck. After waiting a bit for the remainder of the booked guests, the instructions had us and everyone else somewhat baffled as to how and where to meet the boat as the situation was so not special. We took off. The lake is low and uninspiring, the captain gave no information or witty banter, the shade allowed for only three guests of the eight on board. Our first stop was an open air bar. Again, a steep incline of about 2000 steps but the boat was docked in a slip at the yacht club (only time we felt like we werent trespassing in the end). Rustic would be kind. We thought the 2.5 hours we were given there seemed long but our first drink took 45 minutes to get and we had a plate if nachos. Drinks, meh, nachos were good. Our entire party decided to move on before the assigned departure time and we motored across the lake to a beachside bar. With the yacht club nearby, again we ground onto the boat ramp and jumped off the boat. This uphill walk was approximately a quarter mile. Once there it was a shanty bar. All of the people at both establishments on the "cruise" were awesome and friendly. This I cannot state more. But if you expect any kind of special experience, do not book this. It was a $75 from and back to Austin not including tip. We bailed at the last bar so as not to be stuck in a dark park if we had to wait for the Uber back. As it happened, it was VERY hard to get anyone to pick us up. If you have any kind of physical, sun exposure, or monetary concerns, do not book this experience. Do not let the high price fool you. This in NOT a luxury experience. We wrote it off as a $500 water taxi and plate of nachos. Shame on Viator for including this in your portfolio. Very low one star.
