Mr. Bill is a very knowledgeable tour guide, who not only took us to the best spots in and around Fairbanks to view the Aurora, but also gave us excellent tips to capture great pictures of the Northern lights for novice photographers like us! He was excellent in responding to my questions and doubts via email, and provided us with the forecast as it is. We were super lucky that the clouds cleared up for the one night we had in Fairbanks. Mr. Bill let us borrow his best quality lens along with his tripod for the night, free of charge. His tour van is very comfortable, he had the heat on in the van for the entire night, so that gave us an opportunity to warm up every now and then throughout our outing. The hot cocoa he provided is homemade and it tasted so good! The portrait he took of us is very beautiful. Mr. Bill kept us entertained during the drive and it didn't feel like we were out for 6+ hours. Overall, I would totally recommend Mr. Bill's Aurora Photography Tour to anyone who visits Fairbanks.
I had an awesome night with mr. bill!
Mr. Bill offered us to change the date of tour because of aurora forecast. Thanks to his advice, my husband and I were able to see beautiful Aurora and took a lot of photos. I really really appreciate his service! Thank you very much, Mr. Bill.
It's a wonderful trip. Bill is a very nice person. I learned a lot on photography and took many beautiful pictures.
Great photography teaching session
Mr. Bill sent an email to us the day before our scheduled tour to say that the weather didn't look promising for our Friday night Aurora viewing. He suggested that if we were in AK, and if it was possible, that we move our tour up a day as his weekend was fully booked. We did as suggested and our Thursday night viewing was excellent, as Mr. Bill seemed to know which direction to travel that night. His instruction on camera use was clear and his driving was deliberate and we felt very safe on the icy and snowy roads.
It is an excellent tour! Although I am new to DSLR camera, Bill is really helpful. We drove for a long distance to chase aurora, but it was truly worth it. We also got hot drinks and cake during and after the tour. Bill is fantastic in every aspect. I highly recommend this tour! Will definitely participate in this tour with Bill again.
Outstanding service from Mr Bill!!! You can tell his number one priority is to ensure his customers have a good time and he puts forth his best effort to find the aurora. We had an excellent time and would highly recommend booking through SkyFire tours. You will not be disappointed!
Got to see the lights and got great pics. Mr Bill was very helpful and accommodating. His passion shines thru.
Our experience wit this tour was amazing! We were in Fairbanks for four nights. Bill was super professional and rescheduled out tour to take the best advantage of the cloudy weather that descended on the Fairbanks area. On our first outing Bill went to great lengths to find clear skies and the aurora borealis, but to no avail so he rescheduled us at no additional cost for Night Two. That trip had to be cancelled as well due to bad weather, as was Night Three. Finally on out fourth and last night Bill was able to find two locations where we saw the aurora. His perseverance was admirable.
This is the Aurora tour you want!! I can not say enough about Mr. Bill and this tour. First off, he cancelled our tour 2 times. Why? Because he didn't want to take our money if there was little to no chance of seeing the Northern Lights. How amazing is that? Someone who cares enough to know this isn't just about him making money. I heard other tours leave from our hotel those nights, and they came back disappointed. When we finally went out, Mr. Bill found a great spot to see and photograph the Aurora. Not only did we have our light show, but Mr. Bill was so informative about how to photograph those lights. I am an amateur photographer at best. Mr. Bill lent me the proper lens and tripod. He then helped me with the settings on my camera so we could capture the lights in the best way possible. He had a wealth of information to share and bent over backwards to help everyone on the tour. He even brought hot drinks to warm us in the middle of the night!! Trustworthy, helpful, friendly, you can not go wrong on this tour. Thank you again Mr. Bill! I hope to return soon!!
Bill is a wonderful and knowledgeable host. He taught us all how to use the proper settings on our cameras so that we would be ready to shoot the lights...unfortunately, the lights did not come out to dance across the skies that night. We did enjoy listening to Bill’s Alaskan adventures in his stories as we sat and sipped complimentary hot chocolate and munched on cupcakes. I will definitely use SkyFire on my next trip to Alaska.
Bill Heath, was a very knowledgeable photographer. He took us to interesting sites to photograph the Aurora Borealis and made it a fun time. His helped us with our camera settings and checked after a couple test shots that our images were sharp. Lots of fun with great results! Thank you Mr. Bill.
Mr Bill expertise and attentiveness made my Aurora tour with SkyFire in Focus a very memorable one.
Bill was amazing to say the least. He went to all lengths to never be late, watch the forecast for best nights/ times to see the aurora, was very entertaining and personable, made sure we were warm in the van. My now fiancé and I went on the tour just to see the lights and I planned on popping the question and with the help of bill to capture the moment under the stars. We saw the lights for 10 minutes out of three nights :/ just the luck of the draw but bill welcomed us the extra two nights free of charge. If you want to see the lights sign up for this tour because bill wants you to see the lights! - jeremy
Spitfire tours provided my wife and I a once in a lifetime experience. Bill went out of his way to find the best viewing site possible and he ensured that we took the best pictures possible. I highly recommend thks tour !
Mr. Bill was very will informed on aurora forecasts and got us to a very good viewing area. He was very informative on camera settings and lenses. If you are looking for a professional and interesting tour guide, Mr. Bill is whom you want.
We had a great experience with Mr. Bill! On the night we were originally scheduled to go out, Bill advised us that the conditions were not ideal and strongly suggested that we go out the following day or later in the week as the conditions were expected to improve. We decided to take Bill’s advice and go out the following night since we were flying out that next morning on an early flight. In the beginning the aurora activity was limited, but we kept our patience and remained entertained by many of Bill’s stories and warm with his delicious homemade hot chocolate. We eventually saw the aurora and were able to capture some nice photos. Bill was very helpful in teaching us how to adjust the camera settings and find the best places to see the aurora. This was a very memorable experience for us that we’ll never forget. We’re so glad we chose to go with Mr. Bill!
We had a great time with Bill, we thank him for his patience and knowledge, not only gave us his personal recommendation for good restaurants, good local coffee spots, he also showed us the great spirits when it comes to the topics of good food and nature, which let us to a nice hot pot dinner together, that was a very nice meal, thanks Bill!! Even though we didn't get to see Aurora which is a bummer, but I would totally book our next tour with Bill, he will be your go-to guide in Fairbanks, because its the person who you share your memories that matter!! We are extremely satisfied with Bill's service and honesty!! Thanks again my friend, we will see u next time when you visit LA :)
Such a great trip! Thanks to Mr. Bill for the amazing tour and his stories! He is a great guide who would recommend the best day to see the northern light. We spent three days in Fairbanks, but the day we planned to go out had little chance to see the northern light. Mr. Bill told us the weather forecast two days before and recommended to change the day according to our plan. Finally, we saw amazing aurora light with nice weather. Recommend this tour with Mr. Bill:)
This was an outstanding experience. Bill is a very charming, knowledgeable and “customer-First” leader who helped us get most for our money by diverting us to the best possible date for an aurora viewing. He took us to the perfect spot - and then helped everyone capture the best photography - either by guiding them with their equipment or taking a spectacular portrait with his equipment which he promptly sent the next day. Along with the tasty hot drinks - hit chocolate is the way to go - this was a joy from start to finish. If you want to maximize your odds of seeeing and capturing the mystical Northern Lights, then you can not afford to leave Fairbanks without doing this highly, highly recommended tour.
I had a great time out chasing the Aurora with Bill. We weren't very successful because of cloud coverage but Bill went above and beyond trying to find an opening for us and gave me a good tutorial on how to set up my camera. I will be back to try again in the next few months... :-)
Out of all the things a tourist can choose to do while in Fairbanks, there is absolutely no better choice than spending an evening with Bill and SkyFire in Focus, I learned so much about photography and the Aurora! There was even time to learn about the history of the city and Alaska! The hospitality and personal attention is amazing. The quality is extraordinary and the memories are quite literally, out of this world!
