• Westhaven Marina - Home to over 3,000 sail and powerboats of all sizes. This is why Auckland is known as the City of Sails.
• Auckland Harbour Bridge - Affectionately called the coathanger. Offers great views both east and west of Waitemata Harbour.
• Takapuna Beach - Al Fresco living at its finest. Restaurants and shopping on one side of the road, golden sand beach on the other. Expansive sea views.
• Orewa Beach - Ocean views through Orewa to a photo point, more coast, and a stop at Wenderholm or on to Warkworth. Great views on a clear day.
• Waiwera - Waiwera Hill. Stop here for excellent views of Hauraki Gulf and Wenderholm. This is panoramic.
• Puhoi - Early settlers’ location. Excellent restored church and the famed Puhoi pub. Stop if you wish.
• Warkworth - A very nice country town, picturesque by the river. We drive through.
• Matakana Village - Has a Saturday farmers market that is very good and well-known throughout the region. Stop on Saturdays.
• Pakiri - Leaving Matakana, an excellent coastal drive to Mathesons Bay, perhaps the best beach in Auckland. Then on to Leigh for its views and to the top of Pakiri Hill. Here, panoramic 360-degree views of this magnificent region.
• Morris & James Pottery - World-renowned pottery near Matakana. Needs to be seen. Really good stuff.
• Sandspit - Beautiful harbour and a reliable stop for coffee and a quick bite. Then to Brick Bay Hill for excellent views of the wider Hauraki Gulf.
• Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron - Drive back to the city from the north to the Yacht Club. Home of the America’s Cup. There is a restaurant there for afternoon tea or meals. Then to drop off.

Start with a drive through the Viaduct Harbour area and around Westhaven Marina, then cross the Harbour Bridge to Takapuna, known for its beach and dining scene. Continue to Orewa for more stunning golden-sand beaches, passing Hatfields Beach along the way.
