- The Hobbiton Movie Set is beginning The Shire’s Maintenance and Restoration project. The first stage of work is set to get underway from 01 June to September 2025 and will see major maintenance undertaken on one of the Hobbit Holes, not directly visited on the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour route as well as on the Party Field. During this period, construction and maintenance equipment and noise will be present. Tours will continue as normal but will take an alternate route around the construction zone, while being able to get a glimpse of the work that goes into keeping Hobbiton Movie Set as magical as it looked in the films.

Great Adventure - Great! Must visit for all the family!
Going inside the hibbit hole was a great experience; so much detail to look at.

It was a great experience for me and my daughter ! Thanks ! - My experience to visit Hobbiton from Auckland it was wonderfull!
The route with the bus very nice, the visit outside by little houses very documented .
The explications by our guide was so fun and all from inside was very old.
I felt like in my childhood in my little village in Romania, my originally country.
And, the lunch was so good, fresh and many thanks for that,

Do this tour! - This tour is very worthwhile: really good bus driver/tour guide, very enthusiastic tour guide at the movie set, beautiful and interesting tour, and great lunch. Interesting even for non Lord of the Rings fans. Very organized and enjoyable tour.

A must see! - A must do even if you are not a fan (I have only seen one movie but heard so much about this and do live in LA that I had to do it). My only complaint is the bus -- thanks to prior reviews here -- pick up was at the bus terminal Station 1 (Sign 1). It will come up on the board in the bus office but so you know! Also sit in the front rows and you see everything. It was COLD on the left front seat by the door but worth it. Our driver was pretty good giving commentary the whole time (Anthony). A bit dry humor sometimes but loved hearing and learning along the trip. I won't say more except -- A MUST SEE!

Throughly enjoyed myself... - Throughly enjoyed myself as a LoTR fan but unfortunately everything felt a bit rushed. I booked onto the Hobbiton only tour not Hobbiton plus Rotorua thinking this will allow more time there but we got both exactly the same as shared buses. Lunch was great but only received 45 mins to have lunch, dessert and a hot drink which made it all rushed - plus it was buffet style so had to queue. We also only received 15 mins to drink your complementary drink at the Green Dragon (remember to bring your passport as they would only take NZ driving licences) and then a strict 15 mins at the gift shop at the end. We arrived back in Auckland at 15:45 ish, making me feel that we could have had a bit more time to enjoy ourselves which was a shame - but Hobbiton is beautiful!

45mins buffet lunch is too short! - Good experience to see the place, walking is required but not recommended if you want to bring little children. The buffet was pretty decent spread but 45mins for the buffet is just too short. My bff and myself were gobbling down all the food. I suggest a full one hour time for the lunch. 15mins extra wouldn’t kill isn’t it?

Wonderful, but a bit rushed - My wife and I really enjoyed the tour of Hobbiton. Our bus driver (David) was gregarious and helpful, as was our Hobbiton guide (Connor). The only drawback of the trip was the somewhat rushed latter parts of the tour: the time spent in the hobbit hole (a true highlight!) was strictly limited by the tour guide's timer, and the lunch that concluded the tour was delicious but strictly limited to 40 minutes. Given that it was the winter off-season, a slightly more leisurely pace would have been welcome.

There are only guides... - There are only guides in English, so it is better to master English to understand the presentation. Otherwise very nice visit in the heart of the village of hobbits.
