Trip to Hobbiton - Great ride to HOBBITON very comfortable and Raymond provided excellent tips for the tour

Raymond Made the Tour Amazing – Funny, Knowledgeable Driver - Great day trip to see the Hobbit holes. It’s a little pricey, but definitely worth the money for the experience. Raymond was a fantastic driver and guide — funny, knowledgeable, and clearly very familiar with the place. His insights made the trip even better. I won’t spoil the fun, but he gives some useful tips when you arrive at the destination. My advice: listen carefully! Those little tips really make a difference. The drive was also smooth and relaxing, which made the whole day even more enjoyable. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended.

Lovely tour! - Me and my dad booked this as a last minute booking, because everything was sold out, but it was definitely worth it. The tour guide was telling so many interesting stories the whole way to Hobbiton, and our tour guide at Hobbiton was so knowledgeable as well. The whole tour ended at about 2-3 ish pm which gives you time to do other things after. If you’re in Auckland definitely book this tour, and even if you aren’t the bus driver mentioned you’re able to meet the group at Hobbiton, which is great if you’re stopping through the area Hobbiton is located. Great staff, great price, and lovely location! If you’re thinking about it I would recommend booking this tour, such an amazing experience, for fans of the film series, and people that haven’t seen the series too!

Enjoyed seeing where Lord of Rings was filmed. - Adil provided an excellent tour on our way to Hobbiton. Made the 2 hour bus ride enjoyable with his history and highlights of the local countryside. He handled all the logistics of our visit and had refreshments for our journey back to Auckland.

Good trip. Hobbton wonderful. Some communication error with company and make sure you’re not in the rear of the van. - Harton was wonderful. It is run like a well oiled machine beginning tours every 10 minutes. Our bus driver.Geoff was pleasant and informative. My biggest complaint is timing and seating. We signed up for the 6:00 AM pick up. They then sent us information saying that they would pick us up at 5:30 then I received a text the day prior saying it would be 6:00 AM pick up however on the previous email it had said that they would wait only five minutes and leave. Therefore we were there at 5:25 AM and the bus came approximately 6 AM however we were the nearly the last ones to be picked up and the bus was full, requiring four people to sit in uncomfortable back row similar to that of a folding third seat in a minivan. We were lucky to be able to grab a coach seat and they were comfortable.. On another tour with Auckland and beyond we were forced to sit in the back seat which were most uncomfortable. In conclusion, Hobbton is wonderful. Be prepared to be somewhat confused regarding pick up and try and make sure that you’re not the last ones or you’ll be forced to sit in uncomfortable backseat for the two hour trip down there and back.

Good driver, terrible company communication. Do no recommend. - Our driver, John, was very accommodating and provided interesting stories on the drive to Hobbiton. The confusion of the back office for Viator and local companies (?) Auckland & Beyond Tours and Headout frustrated us to no end with a confusion of the pickup point. I signed up for the tour understanding the local driver would pick us up at 6 a.m. from our hotel. Then I received an email that pickups were only from hotels in the central business district. I emailed Viator and Prajali D confirmed we’d be picked up at our hotel that was not in the CBD. We received several emails from Viator and Headout confusing the pickup location, The day before the tour we received our tickets stating that pickup woke be 5:45 a.m. from our non-CBD hotel. I called the HEADOUT office in Auckland to confirm so we would not be left with no tour because they told us the wrong pickup location yet be charged as no shows. The lady was rude and uncaring and did not believe that I’d received notice of pickup from our hotel. If it wasn’t too late to cancel I would have cancelled on that call and joined the tour from Tauranga. But she said to meet the van at 5:45 a.m. on the street that runs beside the Sky view Hotel and nowhere else. We arrived early, saw no one else but sat by the bus stop at that side of the building, on the street she directed. As it was time to join the tour we wondered where was the van and began looking around the area. We found the van in the hotel’s circular driveway loaded with passengers who had not received the poor quality communications. No, I would not recommend this company to other travelers. There are others available.
