• Hundertwasser Public Toilets - A visit is made to one of Kawakawa’s main tourist attractions, the vibrant public toilet designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. After first visiting New Zealand in the 1970s for an exhibition of his work, he chose to make the country his second home and purchased property on the Waikare inlet, east of Kawakawa. In 1998, with community support, he transformed the town’s public toilets into a piece of art.
