The park is home to numerous sheep and cows, owned by the council. With over 350 species and 8,000 trees, Cornwall Park is a haven for tree enthusiasts!
• Ayrlies Garden & Wetlands - Located in the gently rolling countryside of East Auckland, this is one of New Zealand’s most renowned gardens. It features expansive lawns and informal yet detailed plantings by ponds and waterways. Ayrlies is known for its vibrant use of color, especially in the vivid border where ‘hot’ colors are strikingly used, and in areas where old roses, clematis, and perennials are romantically combined.

The garden spans approximately 4 hectares of undulating terrain, with large lawns, ponds, and waterfalls. Now over 50 years old, the garden is approaching maturity, with trees and shrubs providing a dynamic backdrop. View lines to the Hauraki Gulf and within the garden are maintained through careful arboriculture. A large Ayrlies Wetland area connects the garden to the sea.
