It is believed that the arch was constructed to commemorate the adventus (arrival) of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and to honor him for his numerous contributions to the city.
• Changing of the Guard Ceremony - One of the most distinctive experiences is the changing of the guards in Athens. The presidential guards, or Evzones, vigilantly guard the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Hellenic Parliament building around the clock, enduring the coldest winter nights or hottest summer days. Evzones are an elite unit of the Greek army, and it is a great honor for a Greek guard to be chosen as an Evzone.
• Microlimano - Mikrolimano is a popular destination, drawing visitors from all over Athens. It is a charming little harbor with fishing boats, small vessels, and luxury yachts. If you enjoy fish and seafood, consider having lunch or dinner at one of its renowned taverns. Many Greek films have featured this location due to its picturesque atmosphere.
• Plaka - Pláka (Greek: Πλάκα) is the ancient historical neighborhood of Athens, nestled around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, featuring labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture. Plaka is built atop the residential areas of ancient Athens. It is known as the “Neighborhood of the Gods” due to its proximity to the Acropolis and its numerous archaeological sites.
