Excellent tour - Had a brilliant time on the tour with Panos - he is an incredible tour guide with such an amazing knowledge of a huge variety of topics. He weaved together history, political insight and philosophical musings seamlessly. As a Philosophy teacher there were a few tidbits I have written down to share with my classes once home - highly recommended!

To change the world, we must first understand it… - Panos combines a deep understanding of Athens history and the ancient philosophers who shaped it with a unique ability to connect it to contemporary issues in a way that is relevant and meaningful. He is fun, insightful and easy to understand. He connects the pre-Socratic philosophers to 21st century issues challenging democratic institutions ( nothing is new under the sun). He also connects Heraclitus, Socrates, and Patagonia’s cutting edge issues in science human cognition. A fun and engaging journey through the most important ideas in western thought.

Great guide combines history, philosophy and sights into outstanding tour. - This was maybe our 10th tour and the first group tour of our trip. The guide Panos is an outstanding leader of a walking tour that combines sights with discussions of philosophers and democracy. Panos leads these same tours once or twice per day and his experience shows – he knows his subject matter. This tour works best as a group because questions and discussion enrich the experience. Central Athens is rich with sites where some part of the ancient city has been, or is being, excavated. Most of the time was spent in or near to the Ancient Agoura of Athens and the Pnyx, home of democracy. We saw where Socrates was executed (Prison of Socrates), saw the orators platform for early Athenian democracy in The Pnyx, and then listened to “what is philosophy?”. Excellent. Panos even included a description of the origins of the Thucydides's Trap from ancient Greece.

Captivating history lesson! - Panos is an amazing tour guide. Our 3 1/2 + hour tour was packed with information about the history of Athens, prominent Greek philosophers and their theories, the foundations of democracy in Athens and lessons for democratic governments today, and he left us with questions to ponder when we parted.
