Meteora - Depart from Athens at 8:00am to Kalabaka with our coach-bus and admire the beautiful Greek landscapes during your trip. Shortstop midway to Meteora.

Arriving in Kalabaka at 12:30 we will transfer you to your hotel to check in and be prepared for the Majestic Sunset Meteora Tour. We will pick you up from your hotel for the tour.

The Majestic Sunset Meteora tour is one of the top rated tours in the area. You will have for 4 hrs the chance to see all the area, visit 1 main monastery inside, the Byzantine Church of Virgin Mary in the old city of Kalabaka and admire the sunset from the best panoramic viewpoint of Meteora rocks.

After your tour, we will drop you off again at your hotel or in Kalabaka for a short walk.

Monastery of St. Stephan - Admire St Stephen (Agios Stefanos) Nunnery during your Majestic Sunset Meteora Tour

Byzantine Church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary - Visit the oldest monument of the area and learn the history of this important sacred place.

Panoramic Morning Tour or Authentic Hiking Tour - Free Time - Departure from Kalabaka to Athens

Meteora - Next morning at 09:00 join a comprehensive Panoramic Morning Meteora Tour (3 monasteries inside) or an Authentic Hiking Meteora Tour (1 monastery inside) (your choice, you have to inform us by email after the booking which tour you wish to do).

For 4 hours you will have the chance to experience all the beauty of the unique phenomenon of Meteora and the Holy monasteries on top of the rock giants.

After your morning Meteora activity we will transfer you back to your hotel to have lunch and prepare for your departure back to Athens.

The bus departs from Kalabaka at 18:00 and you will arrive in Athens around 22:45.

Great Meteoron Monastery - Visit Great Meteoron, the biggest and oldest monastery of Meteora. You will visit this monastery if you choose Panoramic Morning Meteora Tour or the Authentic Hiking Meteora tour (the monastery is closed every Tuesday and in this case you will visit Varlaam or St Nicholas Monastery)

A very complete excursion! 😊 - This trip lived up to our expectations! My partner and I found this trip very well organized. The guides (Giannis and Vasiliki) are passionate and take the time to answer questions. The sunset over the Meteors is magical, it is definitely worth it. Only small downside: the hotel, although sufficient and welcoming, did not correspond, in our opinion, to a comfort of three stars!

Meteora is a must see! Meteora Thrones were amazing! - We did the 2 day tour from Athens by bus. Great communication and easy to find meeting point. We had Christo as our driver and Nikolas as our tour guide for day one tour which was the sunset tour! No words can describe what we saw and what we felt! Day 2 tour with our driver Kosta and our guide Nancy was also exceptional. Nancy was so knowledgeable and had little surprises for us along the way. She warned us of the many steps but also took us “hiking” though nature before our last visit to Agia Barbara. Special points go to Kosta for his photographic skills 😉 We 100% recommend the 2 day tour … it’s an item ticked off our bucket list and something we will never forget 🙏

Great experience - Loved both tours - the sunset evening tour and the morning monastery visits. We were lucky to have the same guide for both - Nikolaus. He was great - knowledgeable, enthusiastic, funny and just overall a really nice guy.

Meteora Thrones - Recommnded - I strongly recommend anyone planning to do a tour to Meterora from Athens to do this via Meteora Thrones. We went in February 2025. - The team are helpful and responsive, regarding planning transport from Athens either by Bus or Train - The bus transport is straightforward, from Athens train station - For the tours in Meteora itself, the two guides Nikos and Giannis were fantastic in sharing local insights into the monestaries and showing us the best photo spots. We felt very looked after and the logistics were smooth. Highly recommended.

Stunning Meteora Tour! - My son and I were recently part of a two day (one night stay) tour with Meteora Thrones and we had a fabulous experience! The bus ride was comfortable though understandably long (4 and 1/2 hours) which is why we opted to spend the night in the pretty village of Kalambaka. We went on the sunset tour on the day we arrived and a hiking tour the next morning. Our guide for the sunset tour was Maria who was both very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area and the monasteries. The following morning, Giannis guided out mildly challenging hike through the oak forest and rock outcroppings of the area. We saw the monasteries from a distance, the incredible geological features and even went into a hermit cave. Giannis explained details about the area and its history with authority. The only con I have of the trip is that our hotel's wifi service did not work. But that aside, I highly recommend Meteora Thrones Tours!

The start of the tour... - The start of the tour didn't go well. We (a huge number of people) all arrived at the location as directed. The bus driver wasn't helpful and didn't provide any info. Later two more buses showed up across the very busy road and every one is rushing to get to them. The drivers showed us our names on a very small piece of paper and every one is searching their names at the same time. It was very disorganized. It got better when we get there. The tour I signed up for has 7 people, much more manageable. The tour ended at 1:00 pm the next day, but we had to wait until 6:00 pm to accommodate the one-day tourists. Nothing to complain about, it's not a private tour after all.

Beautiful place, you will not want to miss, if you visit Greece. - This is an amazing place to visit. We really only needed one day for the visit. On the second day, we were just going to see more monasteries and it was going to rain, so we decided to leave the tour and travel back on our own. The bus back was not leaving until 6pm, and would arrive in Athens very late, so we took our on transportation. Liked our tour guide, she was VERY knowledgeable

Be prepared to have a terribly hot trip there and back - The bus from meteora to Athens was so hot everyone was profusely sweating. I usually tend to be cold so this was exceptionally warm. The driver was asked to turn on the AC but he didn’t. He was the same driver that took us from Athens to meterora. He was unfriendly and annoyed with everyone. Very uncomfortable 4 hours each way.

Scam experience - The second day was basically a repeat of the information we got on the first day since they put us together with the 1 day tour. And after we get dropped off around lunch we're left for over 4 hours with nothing to do until our return bus. There were 2 stops in what were obviously partner shops to get us to spend money there, which is really disrespectful since we spent all that money to see Meteora. And not only do we get a subpar tour, we're pushed into money grabbing schemes. The bus ride home was awful! It was really hot and the driver didn't turn the AC on. People were using what they could as fans. Save yourself some money and go to Meteora by train and get a taxi to take you to the monasteries. I sure wish I did.
