Well worth the all day trip - Absolutely amazing that anyone could build such a magnificent structure on the side of a mountain. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and informative about the entire area and I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone traveling to Greece. It is a really fascinating piece of history with plenty of artifacts, literature and clothing from the 11th-16th century on display.

Not a small tour - The tour was over 30 people on a bus, not their advertised small tour of 10 or less which I had purchased. The train service was suspended so we reached our destination in a commercial bus. No bathroom on the bus, so be prepared for a 2 hour bus ride before you can get to a WC for either direction. The monasteries were absolutely amazing and well preserved. Pictures are not allowed inside, so admire the beauty or purchase a book at the gift shop to reference these images in the future.
