Amongst pedestals of wonder - So glad we booked this trip. The Visit Meteora team where exceptional in setting out the itinerary, seamless pick ups and drop offs in very comfortable vehicles, great accommodation (Stone Forest in Kastraki) brilliant Meteora guides (Vangelis and Andreas were really engaging, humorous and knowledgeable), remarkable views which our guides stopped at and fascinating to explore the monasteries. Great to stop off at Thermopylae en route to Delphi: somewhere we’ve wanted to visit for years and absolutely loved it. It inspired a couple of poems: Meteora Ancient sediment fractured and eroded Shifting millennia of columns decoded Alien elephants suspended in air Pedestals of wonder whispering prayer Olympian torches thrust into the ground Tipped by roofs’ red glow crowns Sandstone arms reaching to the sky At the fringes of Elysian’s quiet reply Titans petrified by Zeus Home to spiritual recluse Once each eyrie had a nest Six remain to stand the test To achieve the impossible against all odds Above common ground closer to god Wedded to their ceaseless vocation At the hem of heaven’s lofty location …….. Delphi Zeus sent two eagles from Mount Olympus Flew until they crossed above the omphalos Grandmother earth’s sacred navel Gaia’s centre and Delphi’s cradle Apollo’s dolphin form to discard He slew the ancient serpent guard The vapours from its rotting form Filled the Pythian Oracle to inform A sanctuary drew polis and pilgrims from afar Treasuries, offerings, wisdom from a rising star Unity through diplomacy, festivals and games Oh that our world could share these aims

recommended for 3 Days Tour from Athens to Meteora and Delphi - Good length of the tour for these 2 area from Athens. The sunset tour and morning Monastery tour are well organized & we were lucky to visit Monastery of Varlaam and Monastery of the Holy Trinity. We have enough free time and be able to take photos during the visit. We are not staying at the village very near to Kastraki and still able to find good retreatant for dinner. Delfi visit also gives us enough time for both Heritage site and museum.

Go see Meteora! - Top Notch. The bus from Athens was easy to find and left exactly on time. We did the trip that allowed us two days in Meteora. The first day the bus dropped us at our accommodation, Stone Forest (also 5 stars) to settle in and then the bus picked us up for a tour of some monasteries and a sunset pic. Our tour guide is from the area and was extremely knowledgeable. The next morning the bus picked us up and we met a different guide, also from the area for the hike up to the monastery. The hike was on a beautiful trail, only a couple of steeper, very short inclines. Most of the hike was easy, and we stopped often to learn for our guide )who also was a great photographer). I think all abilities would be fine on the hike, as much of it is actually a walk. It was cool to see the monasteries from below and to see some of the hermit caves. After we reached the largest monastery and toured we caught a bus back to the hotel. Honestly, the third day was a little long. We left at 0850 and drove a ways to Thermopylae which is basically a truck stop, not worthwhile. We then drove on to Delphi. It is a cool little town. We had lunch and toured the museum and the ruins. We were there three hours which seemed a little too long for me because of the long bus ride back to Athens. Because of traffic coming into Athens we didn’t reach the bus station until 2030. A really long day. Bottom line Meteora is one of the best places I have and this company does it right. 100% recommend!!

Experience of a lifetime! - The tour guides and drivers for all of our booked trips were brilliant! This was so well organised and communication throughout was brilliant. Our original plan was to self drive but we were unable to in the end so booked this tour. The Visit Meteora team were so flexible in allowing us to keep our own hotel bookings and ammending pick up and drop off times for us. The tours themselves were brilliant. Lots of information was shared by the guides about the monasteries, rock formations and local towns. They took us to all the best photo spots and went above and beyond as our own personal photographers to make sure we got the best photos! The monasteries are beautiful and the guide gave us plenty of time to explore them and take photos. The climb and the heat was a bit tough at times but they had plenty of water for everyone. Delphi was another highlight of our trip and I would highly recommend that people book the Delphi trip. Overall the team were amazing and worked so hard to make sure everyone's trip was perfect! Thank you for an unforgettable 3 days Visit Meteora!

2 days Meteora - 1 Delphi - It's much more worth closing with an escort only then you'll actually see Meteora. We booked the package with the hiking memorable experience Mr. Kostas amazing loves very much what he does and looks from the way he described us the slightest detail about the place and showed us every perspective of the Meteora! Sotiris our guide will remain for us memorable very pleasant person and willing to help in whatever we needed was polite and suggested us the best places to eat in the area! We thank the whole team for this memorable experience.

A Great Trip - This was a terrific trip/tour. Very well organized and managed. For this destination the 3-day trip is a must. I highly recommend it, because It cannot/should not be done as a single day trip. The Hotel Kaikis where we were put was excellent and very comfortable. With the 3-day trip there is ample time to rest, eat, shop and enjoy the town of Kalabaka.

Better to look for alternatives - Excellent accommodation and transfers. Failures in the program and in the sending of documents of the organization. If you want a tour in Spanish look for another alternative.

Don't do Delphi transfer - Meteora portion of trip was good although admittedly it did feel like the price was high for what we got (it was 230/pp without hotel while a day trip to meteora is currently 59/pp). Transfer to Delphi was another story and why my rating was so low. The two of us were transfered with another couple in a 5 seater car so it was a tight squeeze. Unlike the rest of the trip, the driver spoke very little English so the stop in Thermoplye was pointless beyond a bathroom trip as nothing was explained. Additionally, despite the listing saying we would be told where in Delphi we could leave our items, the place they wanted was closed (extremely unprofessional for them not to check ahead of time if its something they say they will do) so we were dropped off with our luggage at the delphi site with no info on what to do with our things. The driver just smiled politely when i asked what to do with our things and left. In the rain. I emailed the office for visit meteora and got a nonchalant response about how yeah sometimes things are closed at this time of year and I could lug my stuff back to town 10 minutes in the rain and ask around at certain restaurants to see if they could watch my things... additionally the bus stop the non english speaking driver pointed us to was the wrong direction and if we had not asked others we might have missed our bus.

Buyer Beware!! - This is a very hands off company! You must be comfortable with little information and the ability to catch PUBLIC transportation with your luggage and possible kids in tow. You will begin like you are on a tour, in a tour bus, you will be dropped off at your hotel - the driver will have no information on your itinerary, if you have questions you must call the travel company. You will have a lot of free time - you will be responsible for figuring out the area and transportation. The hotel we were put in was nice, however the staff was extremely rude and this is the only place in Greece on our whole trip that we had awful food- the meat served to us at dinner was burnt to a crisp and tough. The highlight: The tour of Meteora and the local guides were amazing!!! Our third day on this tour was to see Delphi. Our driver arrived, we had ALL of our luggage outside waiting- he told us to get in the car he had our bags- they were all right there together- no other parties in site- just our luggage- he left two bags outside and drive away- we didn’t know until we are being dropped off a random hotel in Delphi that will store our luggage for the day- not in a secure location and this will be about a mile to the PUBLIC bus station. Thank goodness I had asked our driver to show us the bus station before he left and a near by restaurant owner took mercy on us and let us store our luggage in his store room right near the bus station- this was with no help from the tour company . So now it is up to us to figure out how to get our luggage- it will be going to Athens and it is our responsibility to figure out how to meet the bus- we didn’t have a rental car and two kids in tow- Visit Meteora offered NO solutions- I contacted our private driver from a few days ago and he met the bus driver and got our luggage. Visit Meteora told me they would reimburse me 30€ for his time- that didn’t happen. If you are wanting a well planned experience from a tour company that communicates and pampers you, this is NOT it. Their excuse that they have so many tour options, which is why the drivers and hotel staff aren’t able to help you , is unacceptable to me. I travel a lot and enjoy booking tours, this tour will make me really look at the reviews and make sure it’s an actual tour from beginning to end. This was during the off-season, I can only imagine how much more stressful it would have been at full capacity. Maybe, this company will at least give me the meager 30€ they said and maybe Viator will really look at this experience.
