Experience of a lifetime! - The tour guides and drivers for all of our booked trips were brilliant! This was so well organised and communication throughout was brilliant. Our original plan was to self drive but we were unable to in the end so booked this tour. The Visit Meteora team were so flexible in allowing us to keep our own hotel bookings and ammending pick up and drop off times for us. The tours themselves were brilliant. Lots of information was shared by the guides about the monasteries, rock formations and local towns. They took us to all the best photo spots and went above and beyond as our own personal photographers to make sure we got the best photos! The monasteries are beautiful and the guide gave us plenty of time to explore them and take photos. The climb and the heat was a bit tough at times but they had plenty of water for everyone. Delphi was another highlight of our trip and I would highly recommend that people book the Delphi trip. Overall the team were amazing and worked so hard to make sure everyone's trip was perfect! Thank you for an unforgettable 3 days Visit Meteora!

2 days Meteora - 1 Delphi - It's much more worth closing with an escort only then you'll actually see Meteora. We booked the package with the hiking memorable experience Mr. Kostas amazing loves very much what he does and looks from the way he described us the slightest detail about the place and showed us every perspective of the Meteora! Sotiris our guide will remain for us memorable very pleasant person and willing to help in whatever we needed was polite and suggested us the best places to eat in the area! We thank the whole team for this memorable experience.

A Great Trip - This was a terrific trip/tour. Very well organized and managed. For this destination the 3-day trip is a must. I highly recommend it, because It cannot/should not be done as a single day trip. The Hotel Kaikis where we were put was excellent and very comfortable. With the 3-day trip there is ample time to rest, eat, shop and enjoy the town of Kalabaka.

Incredible! - This experience was amazing. My husband and I are traveling Greece for our honeymoon and booked this adventure. We loved it! The hotel they arranged, boutique Holy Spirit, was perfect. We ended up eating all our meals at the attached restaurant, Gardenia Taverna because after our first lunch we couldn’t imagine anything else could be better. The sunset tour was incredible. Our guide, Apostolos, was so passionate about teaching us all about Meteora and the neighboring towns. We learned so much and had a beautiful experience with amazing views and many stops to get the full experience of the monastic beginnings of Meteora. The next day Vasilis took us on a tour of three Monasteries. Each different and each beautiful. Again we learned so much and had an amazing time. The third day back to Athens through Thermopolyes and Delphi was also wonderful. We had a private driver with two other guests and had a great experience throughout. We cannot recommend this company and your enough. The two nights were not enough, we didn’t want to leave! But definitely stay at least one or two nights to really get the experience.

Geology, nature, history - this tour has it all - Wonderful! Initially I wasn't sure about signing up for the 3 day Meteora and Delphi 3 day tour. After spending time on a family holiday in Crete I had sent my husband and daughter back home as I had more time off work. It was a chunk of money to spend out of my holiday budget, but was worth every penny. After arriving from Athens into Kalambaka and being dropped off at Hotel Kaikis (really friendly staff) I had enough time for an impromptu visit to the Natural history and mushroom museum. This is an old school museum with lots of stuffed animals, but it was excellently done with grouping representative of the local ecology. Worth checking out the videos of the local birds of prey. Upstairs are models of all the mushrooms found locally, again grouped by ecosystem. Also includes info about uses and mythology. Really enjoyable and a good set up for the hiking option I chose for day 2 of the tour. I got back in time for the sunset tour. We were in a small group which was good. The sunset tour included far more than I'd expected, with views of most of the monasteries, a history of the use of the unique geology by hermits leading eventually to the monasteries, a visit to one monastery, and an old church partially built out of a preexisting temple of Apollo (fascinating). The monasteries provide a wrap around skirt if it is needed (no charge). Sunset was partially obscured by a cloud, but the colours were lovely. Apostoles our tour guide was very knowledgeable, funny, and patient with me getting far too excited and wanting to ask all the questions in one go. Ares was our driver and I thought is was very nice that the god of battles took time out of his busy schedule to get us around safely. And I saw a tortoise! The next day in a different small group we had our hiking tour. I was a bit worried that my fitness wouldn't be good enough, but for the most part the walking was not too challenging although the temperature was on my side in April. The steps down later in the walk was the worst bit for me. Ares the driver got us to our location and Evan was our tour guide. He was very friendly and he was very knowledgeable about the geology and nature of the area. We saw many different orchids (April seems to be a good time for flowers). We also saw wild boar wallow (the stuffed boar in the museum was a good reference). This was a highlight. The area is truly beautiful and this is a great way to see it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. We also saw the inside of another monastery. After being dropped off in Kalambaka I had lunch with one of my fellow trekkers and then back to my hotel for a well deserved rest that afternoon. The next day it was time for my transfer to Delphi via Thermopylae. Imagine my surprise when it was just me and my lovely driver Stolos. We chatted about families, life in Greece, and the botany and wildlife of the area. All whole driving through some of the most stunning mountain scenery I have ever seen. The trip was worth it just for this. Stolos told me there is a mushroom festival in September which is a great reason for me to plan a repeat trip! At Delphi I was given my instructions to get the KTel bus. I went to the museum, saw the main site and the temple of Athena at the bottom. I rushed a bit, but in reality I had plenty of time. The ruins and museum were beautiful, but I have to say the mountains are still my highlight of the day. Getting the bus was easy and it didn't take long to get back to Athens. Apologies to everyone's name that I've got wrong.

Meteora bus tour great but better to book as standalone. Misleading "package deal" - The tour guides in Meteora itself were excellent and would highly recommend those bus tours as a standalone item. But the overall package deal was very disappointing value. The booking implies they will handle everything end to end, but actually they are totally hands off with the bus elements to and from Athens and Delphi. I was late for the bus by a few minutes and for the price I paid for a "package deal" would expect for them to wait for all guests to arrive. But when I called to tell them I would be a few minutes late I was told they didn't even have the direct contact of the driver, the bus left without me and I had to pay for train on my own to meet up with group in Meteora. They did not offer any reimbursement. Similarly for the return leg to Delphi they just drop you off and you have to deal with public bus back to Athens on your own. Also, the "3 star hotel" accommodation is more like 1 star... Overall I would definitely book the Meteora bus tour on its own. But if I dealt with my own transport and hotel bookings separately I could have had exactly the same experience for a much cheaper price. For something at this price point and something positioned as an all-in package deal it did not feel like an integrated hands-on service experience.

Buyer Beware!! - This is a very hands off company! You must be comfortable with little information and the ability to catch PUBLIC transportation with your luggage and possible kids in tow. You will begin like you are on a tour, in a tour bus, you will be dropped off at your hotel - the driver will have no information on your itinerary, if you have questions you must call the travel company. You will have a lot of free time - you will be responsible for figuring out the area and transportation. The hotel we were put in was nice, however the staff was extremely rude and this is the only place in Greece on our whole trip that we had awful food- the meat served to us at dinner was burnt to a crisp and tough. The highlight: The tour of Meteora and the local guides were amazing!!! Our third day on this tour was to see Delphi. Our driver arrived, we had ALL of our luggage outside waiting- he told us to get in the car he had our bags- they were all right there together- no other parties in site- just our luggage- he left two bags outside and drive away- we didn’t know until we are being dropped off a random hotel in Delphi that will store our luggage for the day- not in a secure location and this will be about a mile to the PUBLIC bus station. Thank goodness I had asked our driver to show us the bus station before he left and a near by restaurant owner took mercy on us and let us store our luggage in his store room right near the bus station- this was with no help from the tour company . So now it is up to us to figure out how to get our luggage- it will be going to Athens and it is our responsibility to figure out how to meet the bus- we didn’t have a rental car and two kids in tow- Visit Meteora offered NO solutions- I contacted our private driver from a few days ago and he met the bus driver and got our luggage. Visit Meteora told me they would reimburse me 30€ for his time- that didn’t happen. If you are wanting a well planned experience from a tour company that communicates and pampers you, this is NOT it. Their excuse that they have so many tour options, which is why the drivers and hotel staff aren’t able to help you , is unacceptable to me. I travel a lot and enjoy booking tours, this tour will make me really look at the reviews and make sure it’s an actual tour from beginning to end. This was during the off-season, I can only imagine how much more stressful it would have been at full capacity. Maybe, this company will at least give me the meager 30€ they said and maybe Viator will really look at this experience.
