- Acropolis - Walk on the historic grounds where global philosophy, politics, and science were born and thrived thousands of years ago. Explore ancient monuments of immense cultural and historical significance and experience the grandeur and splendor of ancient Greek times. Begin with the Acropolis, which means “edge of the city” in Greek, the highest point both geographically and spiritually according to the ancient Greeks.
- Propylaea - The Propylaea served as the grand entrance to the Acropolis of Athens and was one of several public works commissioned by the Athenian leader Pericles to rebuild the Acropolis after the Persian Wars.
- Parthenon - This architectural masterpiece embodies the pinnacle of human spirit and creativity, welcoming its renowned sister marbles back home.
- Erechtheion - The Erechtheion is an ancient Greek temple on the north side of the Acropolis of Athens, dedicated to both Athena and Poseidon.
- Temple of Athena Nike - The Temple of Athena Nike, dedicated to the goddesses Athena and Nike, is the earliest fully Ionic temple on the Acropolis, built around 420 BC. It stands prominently on a steep bastion at the southwest corner of the Acropolis, to the right of the entrance, the Propylaea. Unlike the enclosed Acropolis, the Victory Sanctuary was open, accessed from the Propylaea’s southwest wing and a narrow stair on the north. The bastion’s sheer walls were protected by the Nike Parapet, adorned with a frieze of Nikai celebrating victory and honoring their patronesses, Athena and Nike.
- Theater of Dionysus - The Theatre of Dionysus, an ancient Greek theatre in Athens, is located on the south slope of the Acropolis hill, originally part of the sanctuary of Dionysus Eleuthereus. The first orchestra terrace was built around the mid- to late-sixth century BC, hosting the City Dionysia. The theatre reached its peak in the fourth century BC under Lycurgus, accommodating up to 17,000 people, and remained in use until the Roman period. It fell into decay during the Byzantine era and was not identified, excavated, and restored until the nineteenth century.
- Herod Atticus Odeon - The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a stone Roman theater structure on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens, completed in 161 AD and renovated in 1950.
- Arch of Hadrian - The Arch of Hadrian, commonly known as Hadrian’s Gate, is a monumental gateway resembling a Roman triumphal arch. It spanned an ancient road from the center of Athens to the eastern city structures, including the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
- Temple of Olympian Zeus - Between the Acropolis and the Ilisos River lie the remains of the Olympian Zeus Temple, one of Athens’ most significant and ancient shrines. The site still imparts a sense of grandeur to visitors.
- Panathenaic Stadium - Visit the stunning Calimarmaro, or Panathenaic Stadium, the venue of the first modern Olympic games, crafted from Pentelic marble, where Olympic ideals continue to shine.
- Mount Lycabettus - After leaving the beautiful Calimarmaro, drive up to Lycabettus hill to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and admire the blend of ancient and modern Athens from above.
- Syntagma - Syntagma Square (Constitution Square) is the central square of Athens, named after the Constitution granted by King Otto, the first King of Greece, following a popular and military uprising on 3 September 1843. Located in front of the 19th-century Old Royal Palace, which has housed the Greek Parliament since 1934, Syntagma Square is the most important square of modern Athens, both historically and socially, at the heart of commercial activity and Greek politics. The name Syntagma also refers to the surrounding neighborhood.

It was founded by Ioannis Kapodistrias.

Today, it is one of Europe’s largest universities by enrollment, with over 69,000 registered students.
Founded on 3 May 1837 by King Otto of Greece and named in his honor as Othonian University, it was the first university in the liberated Greek state and Southeast Europe. It was also the second academic institution after the Ionian Academy. Initially, the university had four faculties: Theology, Law, Medicine, and Arts (including applied sciences and mathematics). In its first year, it had 33 professors, 52 students, and 75 non-matriculated “auditors.”
- Plaka - The historic neighborhood of Athens, nestled around the northern and eastern slopes of the Acropolis, features labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture.
