On this historic hill, you can explore the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of Athena Nike, the grand entrance (Propylaea), the Erechtheum, and the renowned Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
- Propylaea - The Propylaea serves as the grand entrance to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the city’s patron goddess. Designed by architect Mnesicles using Pentelic marble, its design was innovative. To the southwest of the Propylaea, on a rampart guarding the main entrance to the Acropolis, stands the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike, currently under restoration.
- Parthenon - The Parthenon is the principal temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena, symbolizing Athenian Democracy and Western Civilization.
- Erechtheion - This temple, dedicated to Poseidon and Athena, is the most unique and sacred site in ancient Athens.
- Temple of Athena Nike - A temple dedicated to the goddess Athena Nike, symbolizing Wingless Victory.
- Theater of Dionysus - The Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus is a significant theatre in Athens, recognized as the world’s first theatre, located at the base of the Athenian Acropolis.
- Herod Atticus Odeon - The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a Roman stone theater on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens, Greece. Completed in 161 AD, it was renovated in 1950.
- Temple of Olympian Zeus - Following the Acropolis, the journey continues to the Temple of Zeus, the largest temple of antiquity, dedicated to the King of the Gods, accessed via Hadrian’s Arch.
- Panathenaic Stadium - Visit the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
- Dromeas - The artwork Dromeas by Kostas Varotsos was created for Omonoia Square and placed there in 1988. The initial version featured glass fragments interacting with natural and artificial light, as well as water, a version that was briefly supported. As the first public modern art piece in Athens, it sparked numerous discussions and debates.
- Mount Lycabettus - Moving into the city’s historic center, ascend Athens’ highest hill, Lycabettus Hill, for a stunning panoramic view of the city, from the Acropolis hill to the Aegean Sea.
- The Academy of Athens - The Academy Building is part of an “architectural trilogy”. Established by the Constitutional Decree of March 18, 1926, it serves as an Academy of Sciences, Humanities, and Fine Arts.
- The Academy of Athens - The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is Greece’s largest state higher education institution and one of Europe’s largest universities. The magnificent Athens University was designed by Danish architect Christian Hansen and completed in 1864.
- National Library of Greece - Constructed at the end of the 19th century, the National Library of Greece is the last of the “Architectural Trilogy of Athens,” which also includes the Academy and the University. The building was designed by Theophil Hansen.
- Hellenic Parliament - The Hellenic Parliament, known in Greek as Voulí ton Ellínon, is Greece’s parliament, located in the Old Royal Palace, overlooking Syntagma Square in Athens. The Parliament is the supreme democratic institution representing citizens through elected Members of Parliament.
- Tomb of the Unknown Soldier - Witness the changing of the guard (Euzones) in front of the old palace, now the Parliament House, above Athens’ central square.
- Plateia Syntagmatos - Syntagma Square is Athens’ central square, named after the Constitution that King Otto of Greece was compelled to grant following a popular and military uprising on September 3, 1843.
- Acropolis Museum - Upon entering the museum grounds, observe the ancient Athenian neighborhood ruins through the plexiglass floor, skillfully integrated into the museum’s design after being uncovered during excavations. This stunning modernist museum at the Acropolis’ southern slope showcases its remaining treasures still in Greek possession. While the collection spans the Archaic and Roman periods, it emphasizes the 5th century BCE Acropolis, regarded as the pinnacle of Greece’s artistic achievement.
- Plaka - Stroll through the traditional neighborhood with narrow streets, known as the neighborhood of the Gods.
- Koukaki - Feeling hungry? The next stop is a Greek tavern in the traditional neighborhood of Koukaki, offering authentic Greek Pitta Gyros.

A great day in Athens - Our driver, Panos, was very informative and courteous. The day was fantastic. All of the attraction tickets were pre arranged, so no waiting in line. Panos provided detailed explanations of the sites we visited, some history, and really went out of his way to make is comfortable. The included lunch was authentic and tasty, but who can go wrong with Greek food? Lol. At the end of the day, I would recommend this tour to anyone who prefers a more personalized experience as opposed to being herded around like cattle in a 50 passenger bus. In my opinion, it is worth the extra money to have a more relaxing, and more importantly, more memorable day in Athens. This delivered all of the above, so I highly recommend it. Thank you, Panos!

WONDERFUL TOUR! - Excellent tour!!!!
Our guide, Manos, was very knowledgeable and explained everything with just the right amount of detail. The best part was his passion for his country and desire to share it with us! We got great lessons in Greek history, saw all the important sites, learned about life in Greece and had fun! Manos said by the end we would love Greece and its people…he was absolutely correct!!

Best tour for one day in Athens - This is the way to see Athens. The driver was so knowledgeable & personable with a great sense of humor! He had our tickets so we skipped long lines at the Acropolis and the Agora. He got us right up to the palace with the changing of the guard, Marathon stadium, and several lookouts with magnificent views. You won’t regret this experience!

Best way to see Athens! - I had a great tour of Athens with Vasilis. He was knowledgeable, passionate about his city, and offered insightful commentary throughout. While he didn’t accompany me inside each site, he clearly explained what to expect, and the on-site information was very helpful. He timed the visits perfectly to avoid crowds and even picked a fantastic local spot for lunch. An excellent experience
I’m already looking forward to exploring more of Greece.

A little disappointed, overall a good tour - The tour just wasn’t what we expected. The transportation vehicle was fantastic. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The tour group was a little larger than we expected. It was difficult to have a conversation with the guide. The lunch was excellent. I would recommend this to a friend but with reservations.

Mainly a drop off - Okay, we arrived early to the meeting point, the guy arrived early, in office clothes, which seemed unusual since to its a long day tour, and you need to be as comfortable as possible, anyways we got to the van the tour guide seemed nice, but we arrived at the first stop, and he just drop us off gave our tickets and bye , and he didn't go up to guide us to the place , we went up there and we were kind of lost at Acropolis , up there I saw tour guides explaining the history of the sites which is what I expected, but this "tour" i wouldn't call it a tour its mainly a drop off of the sites and then you have you figure out and imagine the history of the arquological site you are looking up, but dont get me wrong if you are looking for just a drop off to the sites you want to visit , this tour is for you. In my case this is not what I expected and its not a tour in my opinion ande very expensive. I wouldn't do it again.
