Venturing slightly beyond the Acropolis, visitors can witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, known as the Evzones. Near the Parliament, the tour features the famous “trilogy” of buildings designed by Danish architects Theophil and Christian Hansen: the Academy of Athens, the University of Athens, and the National Library, all in grand neoclassical style.
The tour also includes the stadium where the first modern Olympics took place in 1896. Following this, visitors will see the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, a notable Roman structure dedicated to Theseus and Hadrian, the founders of Athens.
