Inciteful tour of Athens neighborhoods and tasty delights. - My wife and I spent 5 hours with Simos, from Alternative Athen, enjoying the sights, smells and tastes of a dynamic Athens. We visited 5 different neighborhoods, sampled great food, and were treated to encyclopedic knowledge about the capital of Greece. It was a terrific experience, well worth the price we paid for the tour. Simos was personable, as well as knowledgeable, and made Athens come alive for us. It was a high point in our Athens stay.

The perfect Athens experience - We are two couples from United States. We booked this private tour at the last minute and are thrilled that we did. It was an exceptional experience and well worth the money. Our tour guide Simos was exceptional. Extremely knowledgeable and also self-aware. He let us direct the pace and he allowed us to explore our interest based on his recommendations. It was an all-around fabulous day with great food and great company. We would definitely book this again.

Nice Greek culinary experience, friendly, quality! Can't wait to receive Socrates' Recipe Podf! - Google maps sends us to the opposite of the road junction from the meeting point! Socrates our guide, explained to us well the "typical food" day of a resident of Athens and also the origins and evolutions of dishes. Of course we were able to taste in different quality establishments. The friendly atmosphere in our group of 7 Francophones and of course Socrates, allowed us not to see this 3h30 walk. In addition, he shared some anecdotes about the squares, buildings, that punctuated our way. Ideal for experience-discovery of Greek cuisine!

Great walking tour - In Athens, we had a great tour with Elissavet, who took us walking through several neighborhoods, shared cultural and historical info, and hit great food stops. She was easy going, flexible, and so kind to email me later with recipes for some of our favorite foods we had that day, and her recs for restaurants were spot on.

Excellent;-) - Thanks to Socrates, our guide for this very nice gourmet walk in Athens. He was able to adapt to our constraints, and shared his knowledge not only of Greek gastronomy but also of the history of the city.

Tasty and Educational!! - We thoroughly enjoyed this tour with Andreas! It was a small group- only my family of four and another couple- which was a fantastic size. We loved how Andreas gave us a history lesson on the food and culture as we went to each stop. The food was fantastic- I especially enjoyed the olive oil tasting and the “family style” feast at the taverna but every stop was great! We also enjoyed getting to see a little bit of each of the different neighborhoods instead of just the touristy areas. We would highly recommend this tour- but come hungry- you get a lot of food!!

Personal view into the history, culture, and food of Athens - Our gratitude to Antigoni! She led our group of 8 friends on a walking tour of the neighborhoods of Athens, offering insights from her family's story and weaving in history, culture, politics, stops for tasty food, and of course the great unifier in this part of the world - coffee. Thanks for adapting the tour to our prior travel experience. By far the most memorable city tour I've taken! We didn't make it to the recommended jazz club, but next time!

Wow! - This was such a great way to experience the delicious cuisine with a local. Food was amazing. Andreas, our tour guide, was phenomenal. And the walk was not bad at all. I would absolutely do this again.
