A total of 530 cubic meters of new Pentelic marble were utilized.

The Greek term karyatides means “maidens of Karyai,” an ancient town in the Peloponnese. Karyai was home to a famous temple dedicated to the goddess Artemis in her aspect of Artemis Karyatis: “As Karyatis, she delighted in the dances of the nut-tree village of Karyai, those Karyatides, who in their ecstatic round-dance carried baskets of live reeds on their heads, as if they were dancing plants.”

  Additionally, there will be time to visit The New Acropolis Museum to admire exhibits that illustrate 5000 years of history. This archaeological museum focuses on findings from the Acropolis archaeological site. Built in 2003, it houses every artifact discovered on the rock and its base, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It is located on the archaeological site of Makrygianni at the lower part of the Acropolis hill.
