This historic site, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, has been the backdrop for numerous Hollywood blockbusters such as ‘Alexander the Great’ and ‘Gladiator.’
- Ouarzazate - Next, visit The Kasbah of Telouet, also known as Glaoui Palace, constructed in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It is located in the quaint Berber village of Telouet, within the rural town in the High Atlas Mountains. The most notable resident was Thami El Glaoui. The current kasbah was established in 1860 by the Glaoua, adjacent to an older kasbah whose remnants are still visible today. It was significantly expanded in the early twentieth century by Thami El Glaoui. According to legend, 300 workers spent three years adorning the ceilings and walls, using finely carved stucco, zelliges for the walls, and painted cedar for the ceilings. The roofs are adorned with green-painted ceramic tiles, resulting in a series of grand buildings with richly decorated interiors.
