A Memorable Desert Journey Thanks to an Amazing Team - My My family was looking for a trustworthy tourism agency to visit the Merzouga Desert, and we found exactly that through Hotel Ali. Thanks to Abdul, everything was well organized and we were able to make the trip smoothly. We booked the luxury package. The main difference between the standard and luxury options is privacy: with the standard package, tents are shared, while the luxury package offers a private tent. Since we are a family of three, having our own space was important to us. The hotel rooms were comfortable and well maintained. You can request either one or two rooms and choose the number of beds you need, and each room comes with a private bathroom. The food was very good overall, but I especially enjoyed the dinner at the desert campsite. At every stop along the way, a guide explained the local history and culture. We always tipped the guides because we truly appreciated their efforts, although some explanations felt a bit rushed at times. Overall, thanks to our tour guide Fouad and our driver Mohamed, the experience was amazing. They were extremely patient and always happy to answer our questions, which made the tour absolutely worth it. Because of them, I’m already planning to return, this time with my friends.

Very nice experience - My experience with this tour was very pleasant. Abdul was kind enough to find me and my kids a place in the trip at the very last minute and everything worked just fine. The temperatures have been very cold but the desert camp was comfortable with hot water and heating in the tent. The guides and drivers were very nice and helpful. I would definitely go again with them on a tour in Morocco.

Amazing Experience - Great trip overall, truly exceeded our expectations. Abdesalam from Ali Hotel took incredible care of us and offered amazing rates, which made the stay even better. The service was attentive, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location made it easy to explore the area. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived, and the staff went out of their way to ensure everything was smooth. From the hospitality to the overall experience, we couldn’t have asked for more. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone considering it, we’ll definitely be back!

Thrilling experience with a brilliant guide - We’ve had a very pleasant experience in this trip along with other tourists together in a group. Mustafa and Aziz were very good who helped us in many ways to make our journey comfortable. Please keep warm clothes, extra socks and suitable shoes to wear in desert.

Great experience in a beautiful country - We took the 3-day tour with our two adult children and the individual destinations are beautiful. However, you should be aware that over a distance of around 1,300 km you will spend a total of at least 20 hours of pure travel time in the minibus, whereby you can of course observe the beautiful and constantly changing landscape throughout the entire journey. The tour organizer Marrakech Tours Excursions was always very friendly and helpful and responded almost immediately to all of our questions and supported us (e.g. luggage storage, pick-up and transfer questions, etc.) and gratefully accepted our comments and suggestions for improvement. When it came to the implementation, I would have liked a little more prior communication from the driver and more free time at the individual stops. Maybe you could do one or two things at the restaurants that don't include lunch (especially with a small group - there were 18 of us) choose outside the main route, for example to stop in a pretty smaller town and enjoy a tea or coffee. An absolute highlight is of course the Sahara :). Here we were able to experience a wonderful sunset and sunrise. We booked the “luxury camp” and were thrilled. The camp and accommodation in the 4-person tent was great and the decorations were fantastic... as you would imagine. The facilities in the tent were excellent. Everything is very clean and the beds are super comfortable, all the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating and our camel guide was funny, friendly and spoke English very well. Anyone who wanted to listen to Berber music after the enjoyable peace and quiet on the edge of the Sahara got their money's worth in a rhythmically colorful performance after dinner. For us it was definitely a wonderful experience and a lasting memory and if you don't travel with a rental car yourself, a good alternative, especially with this organizer :o).

We booked a luxury tour... - We booked a luxury tour for a group of 5, but I think the stay at the desert, we got quite a small room/cabin as compared to the others. Otherwise all good

A fun 3 days but not the LUXURY trip that was advertised. - Fabulous to go to The Sahara and experience sunrise and sunset however the trip didn’t quite live up to the ‘luxury’ billing. The minibus may have had some air conditioning but we still sweltered in the heat and it was only May. It certainly wasn’t ’off the beaten track’ as we appeared to be in a convoy of multiple mini buses all stopping at the same coffee stops and restaurants with inevitable queues. Day 2 we left the hotel at 7:30am and the first opportunity for anything to eat or drink was 7 hours later, needless to say everyone was a bit hangry!! And we all thought the 3 hours spent walking round some gardens was time wasted when we could have been making good progress towards the Sahara. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was being told there was wine and beer when we got to the camp only to find my dream of watching the sun set over the Sahara with a cold beer in hand was only a dream and never a reality!

Interesting but long days travelling - Interesting trip, but be prepared for around 30 hours travel time (800 miles) over the 3 days. Stops are made every 90-120mins and a good break for lunch. Most of the time the scenery was interesting, but when travelling in the late afternoon/evening it will get tedious. Day 1 & 2 has a 90 minute visit to an impressive old town and gorge. The one disappointment was in the Sahara. The desert was fabulous but the tent allocation was chaotic and slow. We were put in an annex camp quite a distance from the main luxury camp about 5 mins away by 4x4 which had less facilities and the tents were quite spartan - no furniture, just a bed. We were due to be picked up by 4x4 in the morning but were forgotten so had to make our own way back to the main camp - quite a stressful and disappointing experience. Our driver was excellent, pick up and return also worked very well.

Rushed tour - The tour was great but the trip to the dessert from marakesh was a bit uncomfortable as we were put in a van that seats 18 people but was the last group to be placed in the van which means we had to just seat on any seats that is empty meaning all 5 of us are seperated and had to seat besides strangers. Further, the air conditioner in the van was not cold i ended up sweating in the van most of the time. Other than that, the tour to places besides the dessert was rush which leads to us not being able to appreciate the place we visited

Trip is worth it but not with this tour operator - Going to Sahara desert was well worth it however, this tour operator poked me in the eyes more than a few times. First of all there was no “luxury” in the tour. It was same for all who paid for normal one and those who forked up extra dollars to book “luxury” version of the tour. Driver started hour and a half late and skipped 2 stops mentioned the tour description. He was so rude that he told me to “listen more carefully next time” when I asked him a question. In kasbah stop, they charged fees while listing says that is included the pricing. Driver stopped for lunch at 3:45 pm in a place that had us sit there and wait for about an hour. Then all decided to just leave without eating. Everyone got their chips bags out as a substitute lunch. Driver would just disappear for additional 15-20 minutes in each stop. I guess it was his way to force everyone to spend additional money in those shops. Sahara desert was amazing. We got plenty of time there. Dinner was good. New year celebration was great as all fellow travelers danced their way into new year. I took to transport to fes from there which was event free and driver was great. We were lucky to get the tent right away but not everyone was so lucky. Some fellow tourists kept waiting until 9:00 pm to get into the tent as they overbooked. One last told me that she got the tent at 3:00 am in the morning. Overall, I was happy they I went to desert but I wish tour operator didn’t mess up every step of the way.
