Aswan High Dam - start your day tour by visiting the High Dam, achieved in 1960 to protect Egypt from the flood and generate electricity. Prepare yourself for a particularly overwhelming sightseeing experience, Aswan High Dam is truly impressive. The Dam is 3600 metres long, 980 metres thick at base and 111 metres tall (at its highest point). The water of Lake Nasser, the world’s largest man-made lake, have amassed behind it. It provides irrigation water and electricity for the whole of Egypt. Located 13 km south of Aswan then drive to visit philae temple.

Temple of Philae - Proceed to visit Philae Temple, the Greaco Roman temple dedicated to goddess Isis using a small motorboat to get there. This beautiful temple complex is one of the most picturesque in all of Egypt. It sits on Aglika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam.The temple was moved to its current location following the construction of the High Dam, which threatened to submerge it permanently. The careful reconstruction at the current site carefully completed, painstakingly preserving the original appearance and layout of the complex and even landscaping the island to match its former location. Philae rose to prominence during the Ptolomaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of the goddess Isis. This complex was actually one of the last remaining places where the ancient religion survived after the arrival of Christianity in Egypt, officially closing only in 551 AD. Early Christians then used the main temple on the island as a church. - Drive back to your Nile cruise and overnight in Aswan.

4 marvelous days, a lot of impressive Egyptian attractions, good food and an amazing guide - Our 4-day/3-night Nile cruise exceeded our expectations! We were warmly welcomed on the cruise, where the accommodation and meals were very pleasant. Although the MS King of Thebes is an old boat with some wear, the staff was always courteous, and the cleaning conditions on board were ensured. We were suspicious about the food in Egypt, in particular the salads, but in the MS King of Thebes all was perfectly cooked and safe. Even so, what made the biggest difference in this experience was our excellent guide Ahmed Shawky Ali, who efficiently, proficiently, and in a very organized way provided everything we needed on this journey through the wonders of ancient Egypt. We were integrated in an international group of 20 people, quite diverse in origin, and Ahmed, in a clear and perfectly fluent English, always managed to guide us and organize us so that we didn’t miss anything important! His experience was essential in leading the group at every attraction, even in the most crowded and busy temples (which can indeed get very crowded), where it’s not possible to spend as much time as we would like to. Even with an ambitious schedule (requiring early mornings so we could visit all these marvels) we wouldn’t have changed a thing! In the middle of this busy schedule, we were still able to rest on board, while sailing from Edfu to Luxor. We are grateful to the group and, above all, to Ahmed, for an excellent 4 days!

4 day cruise from Aswan to Luxor - Unbelievable experience. Although our first booking whith another agency was cancelled and, we in a hurry, booked this one at the end it was prooved to be perfect. An excellent tour guide mr. Mohamed Gobran not only gaves us a detailed tour but he was also very heplfull on anything we needed and asked for. We were more than satisfied to have him as a guide on this 4 day trip in Egypt.

The amenity on the ship... - The amenity on the ship is nicer than I had expected. I had a pleasant experience staying on the boat. The food is good and the crew is very friendly and helpful. Our tour guide told Mahmoud was wonderful. I had a badly twisted ankle coming to the trip, he was always sure that I was taken care of and kept up with the whole group. It was a packed tour with early hours and long days. Mahmoud informed the group with daily itineraries, was always there for questions and to help. I don’t know how he kept the energy up but he did a great job to make sure the 4 day trip as pleasant as possible. The reason I give the 4 star is that I originally booked the tour for 20th then it got cancelled last minute. I had to scrambling to change all the logistics to make to the 21st one. It seems all the Nile Cruise tours on here do this last minute cancellation without a solid reason or communication.

Our boat was very good. The guides, and timming, not as expected. Messy!! - BOAT: Minerva. VERY nice. Staff nice, food, good, rooms clean and perfect. ( we understood that many agencies work with the same boat) VIATOR TRAVEL: 5/10 DAY 1: Arrival at the airport: Weird. we are a family of 5, then 2 cars came to pick up us. Old and half broken, no english, no french, no italian, no spanish, only arabit, and we went with them. 10 minutes later, we stopped in the the middle of highway and they say" someone is coming". That was " a bit" wierd. A mini van appeared, and then we went to first trip: The Damm 2- Damm. Guide of the day- ( RAsha) not very good. The explanations were " this is the damm" " this is the temple". Not very complete, and sh e was forcing the tips for everyone. 3. Temple Isis. Nice, ok, But same guide, so average Day 2: ABU SIMBLE. All good, but the planing is not good. They wake you up at 4 to be then in the middle of the road from 4.30 to 5.30 stoppe dina check point that opens at that time... so no idea why they pick you up so early Then we were supposed to go to kom ombo, but we received a whassapp that was postponed the the next day. So stayed again in. aswan. DAY 3 Still in aswyan, again all postposend and basically the whole program is postponed to day 4, which is EXSHAUTING. Guides from day 2 and 3, very nice, but always trying to sell things to you DAYS 4. Too tiring. Wake up again at 4 for the hotbaloon, which is nice, but then to recover all what was postponed, we had to do 4 or 5 temples instead of 2....Was so tiring that the whole group decided to skip 2 temples, which was a pitty, but really too much. Food place of last day ( not included) was horrible. Prefered not to go, but then you are in the middle of nowhere and then its kind of mandatory. Overall was good. But the viator organization was very messy. Fortunately the boat staff and boat itself were awesome and then the experience was good. But if possible book with other agency in the same boat ( MINERVA)

Theft, Scam, Pollution, Unsupported, Departure Date Delay. - The date originally planned to be unpacked we had to review all our following bookings which resulted in additional costs for us. We had 50€ stolen from the safe of the room on the boat El Fostat, the staff at the key of the safe keep your money on you... The boats follow in a chain there's a monster pollution our clothes reek of coals the air is sometimes hardly breathable during the cruise... the hot air balloon has been cancelled we haven't been refunded yet... as soon as you arrive on the boat we ask you 110$ for exursions + 19$ per person for tips supposedly optional we paid them but the staff still asked for Tips and we to steal 50€, drinks are very expensive on the boat 115 EGP coca while in town it is 25 EGP we want to pay for the service but not to this extent... Hotel pick-up could not be done we had to walk and get to a meeting place by our own means with a suitcase of 18kg + our bags otherwise the guide was nice anyway he helped us for our return from luxor to hurgada.

Overall a decent... - Overall a decent experience: PROS: a pack itinerary with lots of the great stuff to see; Ahmed was a top class professional guide who also co-ordinated everything well. He’s what saves this trip. The ship staff in general we good and friendly BAD: they could have cut down or cut out some of the tourist trap visits like Spice Bazaar & Alabastar shop and instead allocated more time to the bigger temples like Karnak & Luxor temples The ship recieption staff were not friendly, not helpful and to frank, if they worked for me - if fire them because they are face of my business and they are not customer centric at all. The food is average and highly repetitive, so it does get boring quickly ( it’s all clean, safe and edible though which is a big plus) UGLY: the cancelled the Hot Air Balloon trip ( which seems to be a common occurrence) but when we requested a refund the Tour Operator declined it - with no reason! It was part of the experience that would have highlighted the tour well ( and surely there is a cost involved- which have charged for but now refuse to refund it)

Mass tourism, not a good experience, boat okay, food great - ++food was surprisingly good and drinks prices okay + Vibe - Old boat but I still liked it - we got the worst rooms but I still liked it --- rethink of doing a nile cruise. Absolut mass tourism. All 20-30 boats are going at the same time to the same temple. It's the worst way to visit them. You have 1,5h time. You need to queue for 30 min to get in and inside it was often so busy like at a Metro in rush hour. Try to do as much as possible on your own. In Luxor you can visit alll by yourself without the boat group. One hour before the tour visiting times the temples are 70%less crowded. Old Boat I don't know how much everyone else paid and if your 350€ per person is cheap or not but we saw at least 20 boats and we had the oldest one, but I still liked it Food was great

The boat does not... - The boat did not correspond to the pictures presented. The service was very poor and the staff clearly lacked experience and enthusiasm. When I arrived, I was assigned a room whose windows were completely clogged with opaque film. After several attempts, I finally managed – fortunately – to get a room with real windows overlooking the outside. Activities were far too numerous and poorly balanced. We had to get up at 4:00, 5:00, or 6:00 in the morning, and then bus for hours to visit the temples — including a full day where we bused 8 hours for one activity. The temples are beautiful, but it leaves very little time on the boat. I felt more like I had slept on a boat rather than a cruise. We only had a small afternoon off, because we voluntarily refused an activity. The guide spoke very poor English, to the point where I had to withdraw from my side and use my own translation tool to understand the sites we visited. On the food side, it was repetitive and without variety. No choice of wine or drinks: very limited. At the table service, every time something was asked, chances were it just wouldn’t happen. The employees had no experience. In short: a disappointing experience, very far from what was announced. I would not recommend this cruise.

Additional fees are expected and Hot Air Balloon NOT guaranteed - They will charge you an additional $200 for entrance fees and “service” fees for the employees on the boat. The tour guide will give you a white envelope to leave additional tips for their services with you on the day BEFORE the cruise ends. They will also tell you that the hot air balloon isn’t a guarantee regardless of their advertising. Our cruise didn’t provide the hot air balloon. Overall, disappointing. Also, be careful with their currency conversions because they WILL up charge you any chance they get and will be persistent.

12 hours earlier we were left without a cruise - We booked the activity a month in advance and 12 hours before, at 8pm the day before, when we were catching a flight from Cairo to Asuan, we received an email saying that the reservation has been cancelled, without giving any explanation. We've been left in stone since now we have nothing to do and we've taken everything for this cruise. No one has contacted us and Viator is not responsible. Keep an eye on this operator.
