Day 01 | Aswan | Temple of Philae | The Aswan High Dam
Temple of Philae - Constructed to honor the goddess Isis, this was the final temple built in the classical Egyptian style. Its construction began around 690 BC, and it was among the last places where the goddess was venerated. The worship of Isis continued here until at least AD 550. The boat will drop you off near the Kiosk of Nectanebo, the oldest section, and the entrance to the temple is marked by the 18-meter-high first pylon featuring reliefs of Ptolemy XII Neos Dionysos defeating his foes.
Aswan High Dam - Egypt is renowned for the Aswan Dam, one of its greatest engineering feats. It is a significant architectural and historical milestone for the country, being the more modern and larger of the two dams constructed on the Nile. At the height of the first dam, there are small sequences of waterfalls. The dam is named after the nearby city of Aswan, located approximately 17 km away. The Aswan High Dam is one of Egypt’s most notable constructions, following the ancient pyramids of Giza. Its construction enabled the regulation of the Nile River’s flooding, reinforcing the previously established barriers.
After completing your tour, you will return to your hotel in Aswan.
Day 02 | Temples of Kom Ombo | Edfu
Temple of Kom Ombo - In the morning, you will be greeted by our guide who will transfer you by air-conditioned car from your Aswan hotel to visit the Temples of Kom Ombo.
Situated on a promontory at a bend in the Nile, where sacred crocodiles once basked in the sun on the riverbank, is the Temple of Kom Ombo, one of the most beautifully located temples in the Nile Valley. Unique in Egypt, it is dedicated to two gods: the local crocodile god Sobek and Haroeris (from har-wer), meaning Horus the Elder.
Temple of Horus - This majestic temple dedicated to Horus is considered by many to be the best-preserved cult temple in Egypt. According to Egyptian mythology, it was the site where the falcon-headed god Horus avenged the murder of his father Osiris by defeating Seth.
After completing your tour, you will return to your hotel.
Day 03 | Aswan | Luxor | East Bank | Luxor Temple | Karnak Temple
Luxor Temple - In the morning, you will be greeted by our guide who will transfer you by air-conditioned car from your Luxor hotel to visit the Luxor Temple.
Primarily constructed by the New Kingdom pharaohs Amenhotep III (1390–1352 BC) and Ramses II (1279–1213 BC), this temple is a remarkably elegant monument in the heart of the modern town. Also known as the Southern Sanctuary, its main purpose was during the annual Opet celebrations, when the statues of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu were brought from Karnak along the Avenue of Sphinxes and reunited here during the inundation.
Temple of Karnak - Then proceed to explore Karnak Temple.
Karnak is an extraordinary complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, and obelisks dedicated to the Theban triad and the greater glory of pharaohs. The site spans more than 2 square kilometers, large enough to contain about 10 cathedrals. At its core is the Temple of Amun, the earthly ‘home’ of the local god. Built, expanded, dismantled, restored, enlarged, and decorated over nearly 1500 years, Karnak was the most significant place of worship in Egypt during the New Kingdom.
After completing your tour, you will return to your hotel in Luxor.
Day 04 | West Bank | Valley of the Kings | Temple of Queen Hatshepsut | Colossi of Memnon
Valley of the Kings - In the morning, you will be greeted by our guide who will transfer you by air-conditioned car from your Luxor hotel to visit the Valley of the Kings.
The grandeur of the architecture used for burial is magnificent, with many kings interred in this valley. You will visit three tombs, excluding the Tomb of King Tutankhamun.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Visit the funerary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, whose name means “foremost of Noble Ladies.” She was the longest-reigning female pharaoh of an indigenous Egyptian dynasty. Compared to other female pharaohs, Hatshepsut’s reign was much longer and more prosperous. She is considered a pharaoh who inaugurated a long peaceful era. She re-established international trading relationships lost during the Hyksos occupation and brought great wealth to Egypt. This wealth enabled Hatshepsut to initiate building projects that elevated Ancient Egyptian architecture to a standard comparable to classical architecture, unmatched by any other culture for a thousand years. She ruled for about 19 years. One of her most famous achievements was the construction of Hatshepsut’s temple.
Colossi of Memnon - Visit the two Colossi of Memnon, all that remains of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. The original function of the Colossi was to guard the entrance to Amenhotep’s memorial temple (or mortuary temple), a massive structure built during the pharaoh’s lifetime, where he was worshipped as a god-on-earth both before and after his departure from this world.
After completing your tour, you will return to your hotel in Luxor.
