Arrival in Aswan - Nile Cruise Check-In and Aswan Day Tour - Recommended Arrival Time: 7:00 to 10:00 AM
Aswan - A representative will greet you at your hotel in Aswan, Aswan airport, or railway station, and transfer you to your 5-star Nile cruise before lunch. Enjoy lunch on board, followed by visits to the High Dam and Philae Temple. Dinner will be served on board, accompanied by a folkloric show. Overnight stay in Aswan. Meals: Lunch, Dinner.
Note: If you arrive in Aswan or are picked up early (recommended), the tour will commence immediately upon arrival, as cruise check-in is at 12:00 PM. This ensures guests do not waste time waiting in the lobby and helps avoid the heat.
Aswan High Dam - Begin your day tour with a visit to the High Dam, completed in 1960 to protect Egypt from flooding and generate electricity. Prepare for an awe-inspiring experience, as the Aswan High Dam is truly remarkable. It stretches 3,600 meters in length, 980 meters thick at the base, and 111 meters tall at its highest point. Behind it lies Lake Nasser, the world’s largest man-made lake, providing irrigation and electricity for all of Egypt. Located 13 km south of Aswan, then proceed to visit Philae Temple.
Temple of Philae - Continue to Philae Temple, a Greco-Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Isis, accessed by a small motorboat. This stunning temple complex is one of Egypt’s most picturesque sites, situated on Aglika Island just south of the old Aswan Dam. The temple was relocated to its current site after the High Dam’s construction threatened to submerge it. The meticulous reconstruction preserved the original appearance and layout, even landscaping the island to match its former location. Philae gained prominence during the Ptolemaic Dynasty as the center of the cult of Isis. It was one of the last places where the ancient religion persisted after Christianity’s arrival in Egypt, officially closing in 551 AD. Early Christians then used the main temple as a church. Return to your Nile cruise and overnight in Aswan.
Abu Simbel Temple & Kom Ombo Temple
Abu Simbel Temple Complex - At approximately 4:30 AM, you will be picked up to visit the Abu Simbel Temple (in a small group), one of Egypt’s most impressive sites. The rock-cut temples of Abu Simbel, with their unique design, were built for King Ramesses II and his beloved Queen Nefertari. These temples are masterpieces of ancient Egypt, reflecting the glory and grandeur of the New Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO collaborated to save these temples from flooding. The Temple of Ramesses II was dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and Ramesses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also known as The Sun Temple of Ramesses II. The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also called the Temple of Hathor, who was the wife of the god Horus, symbolically. Return to the cruise by noon. Enjoy lunch on board and prepare for the cruise to navigate towards Kom Ombo city in the afternoon.
Temple of Kom Ombo - Sail for approximately 3 hours to Kom Ombo city while enjoying tea time on the sundeck. Upon arrival, visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, located 45 km north of Aswan. The temple was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek Raa and the god Horus the Elder. Built in 180 B.C. by the Ptolemaic dynasty during the Roman invasion, the temple’s unique location on the riverbank between Edfu and Aswan makes it a wonderful stop for Nile cruises. Sail to Edfu, enjoy dinner on board, and participate in a Galabeya Party. Overnight in Edfu town.
Edfu Temple & Luxor East Bank
Temple of Horus - After breakfast on board, visit the Edfu Temple, the most well-preserved temple in Egypt, dedicated to the hawk-god Horus. The construction of the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus, founded on the site of an earlier temple, dates back to the reign of Ptolemy III (237 B.C.). The wall inscriptions include the myth of the contention between Horus and Seth, likely performed annually as a religious drama. Return to the cruise, relax on the sundeck, and admire the beautiful scenery of the Nile River while sailing to Luxor. Cross Esna Lock, enjoy lunch on board, and afternoon tea on the sundeck.
Karnak Open Air Museum - Arrive in Luxor city by late afternoon and enjoy a tour of the Karnak temples. Karnak is more than a temple; it is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, and obelisks, all dedicated to the Theban gods and the greater glory of Egypt’s pharaohs. Karnak was the most important place for the worship of the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonso). Then proceed to Luxor Temple. Note: If the cruise arrives by 3:00 or 3:30 PM, there is an opportunity to visit both Karnak and Luxor Temples on the East Bank of Luxor; otherwise, the visit will be scheduled for the next day.
Luxor Temple - After visiting Karnak Temples, proceed to Luxor Temple, largely built by the New Kingdom Pharaoh Amenhotep III of the 18th dynasty and completed by King Tutankhamun and the great King Ramses II. The first pylon was raised by Ramses II and decorated with scenes from his military Battle of Kadesh. Dinner on board and overnight in Luxor.
Check-Out - Hot Air Balloon & West Bank Tour - This Tour Concludes Around 12:00 PM
Hot Air Balloons Luxor - Early in the morning, embark on an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over the west bank of Luxor, enjoying an aerial view of the city’s landscape and famous landmarks. Experience the open-air museum city (Luxor) from above, with great temples and mountains below (40 to 55-minute ride). Check-out with a breakfast box.
Colossi of Memnon - After the balloon ride, stop for photos at the Colossi of Memnon, two magnificent twin statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, with two smaller statues at their feet (one representing his wife and the other his mother). These statues stand gracefully on the horizon of Luxor. Each statue measures 60 feet tall and stands at the entrance of Amenhotep III’s mortuary temple. They are famously named the Colossi of Memnon due to a phenomenon produced by one of the statues after an earthquake. Originally built in the Theban Necropolis west of the Nile River in modern Luxor, the Colossi of Memnon, made of quartzite sandstone, were quarried at El-Gabal el-Ahmar near modern Cairo and transported 420 miles overland to ancient Thebes. They remain after thousands of years. Then proceed to Hatshepsut Temple.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Visit the Queen Hatshepsut Temple and discover her beautiful temple and intriguing story with her nephew. Rising from the desert plain in a series of terraces, the Temple of Hatshepsut merges with the sheer limestone cliffs of the eastern face of the Theban Mountain, as if nature itself built this extraordinary monument. Then proceed to the Valley of the Kings.
Valley of the Kings - Arrive at the Valley of the Kings, known as the Great Place of Truth, now called the Valley of the Kings. This majestic domain of the pharaohs once held great stone sarcophagi, awaiting immortality. Explore the complex and see the tombs and resting places of remarkable Egyptian kings such as Merneptah, Ramesses III, and Ramesses VI. Then transfer to Luxor railway station, airport, or your hotel in Luxor.
