Amazing Day - Had a great experience yesterday with Mr Michael visiting Abu Simbel Temple. 3 hours drive from Aswan in a comfortable ride and enjoyed his explanation a lot when we reached the temple. Spent 2 hours at the site which was more than enough to enjoy the temple and take pictures. Would recommend this tour to any visitor to Aswan. Thank you for the happy day.

Abu Simbel private tour from Aswan - Excellent and not to be missed tour from Aswan. To come to Egypt and not see the marvel that is Abu Simbel would be a crime! We were contacted well ahead of time by the tour operator Michael, he picked us up at our hotel on time in a comfortable private car. Our driver Mohammed was kind, attentive and very polite not to mention very skilfull with the vehicle and police checks which is a bit of an art form here. Our guide Suleyman, met us at Abu Simbel which he is a long time resident of. Imagine being guided by a man who's family traces its roots to the very place shrouded in thousands of years of history. There was nothing he didn't know or couldn't answer about Abu, his vivid descriptions and background stories incredibly rich in detail and colour added a whole new layer to a place we thought we already knew so much about from books and documentary films. Listening to him weave the stories with imagination and passion brought the ancients to life right in front of our amazed eyes. We arrived near noon and were stunned to be virtually alone and were able to linger at our leisure, taking it all in without any distractions. Suleiman encouraged us to sit in silence and let the spirit of the temple surround and inspire us. It was heartbreaking to have to leave this enchanted, magical place. Our return was just as smooth and the entire adventure is something we are sure never to forget. SHUKRAN Jazeelan to the entire team for an incredible day! Jakub and Ginna, Vancouver, Canada

Aswan Airport to Abu Simbel - We decided to do this day trip right off of our flight from Aswan and all in all this worked out extremely well for us. However, because we did it this way it meant we were on a tight schedule as you really don't want to be on the roads too late at night. FYI, we did have to haggle with the company to get them to pick us up from the airport (which, I don't totally understand because the airport is on the way and it was a private trip?). Haggling aside, the company ended up being fine with picking us up from the airport around 9:30am. This also worked in our favor as we ended up at Abu Simbel around noon, which is slightly after all the big tour groups, and meant we had the place to ourselves! Abu Simbel itself is absolutely spectacular and I would highly recommend going (though truly, don't bother spending too much time in Aswan if you can help it). Our driver was also very nice and accommodating and the trip included a short video about the UNESCO project to save Abu Simbel. Once at Abu Simbel, we had a tour guide but to be honest this was great but pretty minimal as tour guides aren't allowed in the temple. One bad thing was that we made one stop on the way (a pretty cool desert cafe place, though with basically 1 food option) and other than this there seriously was NO food to be found on the way or at Abu Simbel. There is a "cafe" at Abu Simbel but as far as I could tell it sold only chips and ice cream and no real lunch options. Pack a lunch if you can or you will be extremely hungry!

Great driver, below average guide - We drove from Aswan to Abu Simbel with a lovely driver (Adel?). He took us through a huge swathe of desert and to a lovely little rest stop in the middle of nowhere where we lounged and explored without any complaints from him. Once we arrived at Abu Simbel and met our guide, Abdul, things went a little south. He spoke English but was incredibly hard to understand, mostly because of his rushed and disinterested approach. He was unhappy with our tip, although I’m not sure any amount would have satisfied. We were thankful to spend most of the trip with the driver.
