Wander through narrow alleys and medieval squares to reach Saint Rufino’s Cathedral and Saint Clare’s Basilica. Continue to the main city square, Piazza del Comune, where you will find one of Italy’s best-preserved Roman temples – Minerva’s temple – surrounded by impressive medieval government buildings.
The tour proceeds to the Basilica of Saint Francis, renowned worldwide for its 13th-14th century frescoes by Italy’s finest painters of the era, including the famous Giotto.

Please note that from February 15, 2026, to April 6, 2026, guided tours of the basilica will be paused due to the display of St. Francis’s remains. The guide will offer explanations from outside, after which visitors can enter independently.
- A dress code is required to enter places of worship and selected museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may risk refused entry if you fail to comply with these dress requirements
- Please notice: on Sundays, big Catholic holidays and National holidays, guided tours inside the Basilica of St. Francis ar forbidden. Your guide will explain to you the church from outside, and you will enter alone on silence.
