- Assisi - The group will gather and embark on a walking tour of Assisi, delving into its ancient Roman ruins. Participants will explore the remnants of the local Roman Amphitheatre and the stunning Minerva Temple, renowned for having one of Italy’s best-preserved facades.
During the tour, attendees will immerse themselves in the ambiance of a medieval Italian hilltown by visiting local handicraft shops (pottery, carvings, embroidery, etc.) and strolling through charming narrow alleys. The highlight of the tour will be the Basilica of Saint Francis, adorned with magnificent frescoes by Giotto (13th - 14th century), one of Italy’s most significant medieval artists.
After a lunch break (not included), the group will proceed to Spello, another authentic Umbrian hilltown celebrated for its flower-adorned streets. In Spello, participants will also appreciate Renaissance art by Pinturicchio, a 15th-century painter who contributed to the Vatican in Rome.
- Basilica di Santa Chiara - The Basilica of Saint Clare is a church dedicated to and housing the remains of Saint Clare of Assisi, a disciple of Saint Francis of Assisi and founder of the Order of Poor Ladies, now known as the Order of Saint Clare.
- Chiesa Nuova - Constructed in 1615 on the site believed to be St. Francis’s home, this building features Renaissance architectural design. The brick façade is divided by four pillars supporting a Doric entablature, topped with an attic gable and a hemispherical dome.
- Santa Maria sopra Minerva - The Temple of Minerva is an ancient Roman structure that currently accommodates the church, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, built in 1539 and renovated in Baroque style in the 17th century.
The temple was erected in the 1st century by Gnaeus Caesius and Titus Caesius Priscus, two of the city’s quattuorviri, who also funded its construction.
- Basilica Papale e Sacro Convento di San Francesco d’Assisi - This luminous and spacious basilica features a single four-bay nave with a cross-vaulted ceiling adorned with patterns of crosses and leaves, a transept, and a polygonal apse. The four ribbed vaults are alternately decorated with golden stars on a blue background and paintings.
- Basilica Papale e Sacro Convento di San Francesco d’Assisi - The Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi serves as the mother church of the Roman Catholic Order of Friars Minor Conventual in Assisi, a town in the Umbria region of central Italy, where Saint Francis was born and passed away.
- Centro Storico - Spello is another authentic Umbrian hilltown renowned for its flower-adorned streets. In Spello, visitors will also enjoy Renaissance art by Pinturicchio, a 15th-century painter who worked in the Vatican in Rome.

- For the transfer to Spello we will have a private van with driver
- A dress code is required to enter places of worship and selected museums. No shorts or sleeveless tops allowed. Knees and shoulders MUST be covered for both men and women. You may risk refused entry if you fail to comply with these dress requirements
- Please notice: on Sundays, big Catholic holidays and National holidays, guided tours inside the Basilica of St. Francis ar forbidden. You guide will explain to you the church from outside, and you will enter alone on silence.
- Due to the exposition of the remains of St. Francis, guided tours of the basilica will be suspended from February 15, 2026, to April 6, 2026. The guide will provide an explanation from outside, and then visitors will be able to enter on their own.
