I settled into the Crystal Hotel, a charming establishment that offered a perfect blend of comfort and history.

Exploring the city, I was captivated by the Catholic cathedral and the former Governor’s palace, a retreat for Emperor Haile Selassie. The architectural beauty of these buildings is a testament to the city’s rich history. I also visited the Enda Mariam Orthodox cathedral and St Mary Coptic church, each offering a unique glimpse into the religious tapestry of Eritrea. A visit to the National Museum provided insights into the country’s past, while the monument dedicated to Alexander Pushkin added a touch of literary history to my journey. As the day wound down, I found myself sipping a cappuccino at an outdoor café, soaking in the ambiance of this remarkable city.

Journey to Keren: A Cultural Mosaic

Leaving Asmara, I embarked on a journey to Keren, a city that promised a different facet of Eritrean culture.
