Sent this email to the owner - received no response. Having had a wonderful past experience at the Asheville Salt Cave, I was really looking forward to sharing it with my husband as a way to unwind/ re-energize amidst our travels. Instead, I left feeling considerably worse than when we arrived. The employees were kind enough to give me your email address, as I’d like to express some feedback in the hopes that other clients’ experiences might be more positive. I would also like to request a refund for my session. The first glitch is that GPS technology led us to what is apparently now a previous location, on Eagle St. — the building was where I had gone two years prior, and the Asheville Salt Cave sign was still visible from our car, so it didn’t occur to us to compare it with the address listed in the email. After a harrowing few minutes seeking parking, we arrived and realized the building had been abandoned, then figured out about the new N. Liberty St. location (at which we arrived just in time. That is great that you all have parking now :). I did call to try to let them know we were on the way, but had to leave a message. The main problem, though, and the reason for this email, was the seating in the current salt cave. It certainly makes sense that outside blankets would not be permitted due to the Covid pandemic, and that we could not lie directly on the salt as before. But the zero gravity chairs = zero support. For some folks like my husband, they worked pretty well — for me, it was honestly the most uncomfortable chair I’ve ever attempted. Having worked so hard to get there(!), I really wanted to try and enjoy the experience. I experimented with changing positions every few minutes; I used my scarf for neck support and my jacket for lower back support; I did self-Reiki. I finally exited a few minutes before the session ended, as my increasing back and neck tension were just not worth whatever benefits were coming from the salts. My body type is not all that unusual (5’4” female, 125 lbs.), probably a bit smaller than average. My suggestion would be that instead of having only identical zero gravity chairs, there could be a few different options to fit different kinds of bodies, as was the case in the past. Different shapes of seating could still be disinfected as needed. I especially felt for the pregnant client in our community salt cave, who asked if she could lie on the salt instead of staying in the chair (and was discouraged from doing so, but told that she could - a mixed message that left me confused about whether that was really an option). I hope that this feedback might be helpful to you and your staff as you seek to provide a high-quality experience to other clients. I would appreciate a refund for my session, as I left feeling quite jangled/ out of alignment, which is the opposite of what I believed we were paying for.

It was relaxing but no more than sitting in a chair in my backyard. They claimed it was better than 4 days by the ocean...I disagree. No ocean smell, fake waterfall sounds, very warm, not refreshing air.

I was not informed of the new location, so we almost missed our appointment. The salt cave was very cold and I was unable to relax and enjoy my time due to shivering and being cold. I would have brought in a blanket or coat if I had been informed of this.
