Trekking from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Kilimanjaro National Park - In the morning, a guide and mountain support team will arrive at the hotel to meet the operator and conduct a brief orientation. Following this, the group will travel by vehicle to the eastern entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park: Marangu Gate (1,860 m/6,046 ft). After the brief process of obtaining climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will commence the trek to Mandara Hut (2,700 m/8,858 ft). The trekking path includes a journey through the rainforest, where tropical showers are quite likely, so it is advisable to bring extra clothing and raincoats.
Upon arrival at the camp, the mountain support team will handle all necessary arrangements and prepare dinner.
Hiking to Maundi Crater and Descent to Marangu Gate
Kilimanjaro National Park - After breakfast at Mandara Hut, the guide will lead the group towards Maundi Crater (400m). Based on the group’s pace and overall condition, the guide will recommend the best option. The guides are familiar with the route and the time required for both ascent and descent, so it is advisable to follow their guidance to ensure a memorable experience.
After returning to Mandara Camp, the cook will prepare lunch, and the group will begin the descent to the park’s exit, where the driver will be waiting to transfer them back to the hotel.
