Zanzi trekking Kilimanjaro Lemosho route - Climbing Kilimanjaro was one of the best experiences of my life and I simply couldn’t have done it without Zanzi Trekking. They went above and beyond in all aspects and made sure we were as comfortable as possible whilst respecting our personal space. Our guides, Issack and Sagochi, were incredible. They were so friendly and easy to get along with and gave us support both when asked for and when we didn’t realise we needed it. The chef and the porters were also incredibly hardworking and friendly and we were in awe of all the weight they carried each day. Our experience started when we booked about 6 months in advance and the company sent us lots of useful resources like packing lists and available add-ons. Closer to the time we had a fair few logistical questions and Zanzi set up a WhatsApp group with a representative, which was really helpful. Through this we were able to get advice on an appropriate amount to tip the guides and porters and also book an airport transfer through them for an additional charge. On the first day, the team picked us up from our hostel in Arusha and also dropped us off after for no extra charge which was a nice touch. On the way to the mountain they also happily stopped a few times so we could buy some last minute pieces of equipment we’d forgotten. Each day one of the guides started the hike with us whilst the other organised the porters and caught us up later. The porters then overtook us so that the camp was set up ready for our arrival, which was such a luxury. The camp consisted of tents for us, a private mess tent (where we ate our meals), a toilet and the porters tent. We went for the optional ‘toilet engineer’ package which gives you a private toilet. This is a must have as the public toilets at each camp are a state. We felt in very safe hands with Issack and Sagochi. They were very knowledgeable about the mountain, the routes we were taking and the wildlife and plants on the mountain. Every evening, one of the guides would monitor our blood oxygen and brief us on the next day so that we knew what to expect. One of the porters would then wake us up on time every morning and provide us with some hot water to wash with. They would also fill up our bottles with fresh water and bring us food to the mess tent. Each day’s hike was well balanced and within our comfort zone with the exception of summit day. The guides were fun to talk to and made the day go a lot quicker when it did get tough. On summit day we simply couldn’t have made it without Issack and Sagochi. They were always positive and kept moral as high as possible. They could tell me and another member of our group were seriously suffering and were as accommodating as possible. They took our day packs for us, held things whilst we took a drink and listened to all our requests. I can’t convey enough how grateful I am for them and how amazing it was to meet them. The food on the trip was very good considering it was made on a mountain and the portion sizes were enormous. We never went hungry and enjoyed every meal even when we lost our appetite due to the altitude. Overall Zanzi Trekking is a great company and I wouldn’t have changed any of our experience. They made our dream come true and if I ever find myself in Tanzania again I’ll be reaching out.

Our wonderful tour with Zanzi - Had a wonderful 7 day Kilimanjaro trek doing the Lemosho route with my 2 mates, run by Zanzi. We intentionally picked them as one of the more budget tours out there, but were blown away by how good everything was. Issack and Sagotchi were our two guides, they had fantastic knowledge of the mountains and were such nice guys to be around for our 7 days. A big shout out to rest of crew too, they all played a big part in getting us all to the summit. Thank you Zanzi!!

An Unforgettable Kilimanjaro Experience with an Outstanding Team - From the moment we booked to the final steps on the summit (and back down again!) our experience with Zanzi, and in particular from our guides Issack and Sagoche, was exceptional. Their clear communication, thoughtful organisation, and incredibly dedicated team made our journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro both seamless and unforgettable. With knowledgeable guides, hardworking porters, and genuine hospitality throughout, the entire trek felt safe, well-supported, and far more comfortable than we ever expected. We booked with Zanzi after finding them to be more affordable than competitors having done our due diligence shopping around. Prior to our flying to Tanzania, Zanzi retained great lines of communication through email and WhatsApp, with Honest and Restituta answering our many questions and for a fee organising airport connections and local phone sims to make our entry to the country run as smoothly as possible. Abu, their chosen driver was excellent - waiting for us at the airport despite delays and through the drive helping us get the lay of the land around where we were staying. Issack (our head guide for the trek) and Restituta met us in Arusha and helped us get checked in to our accommodation. During the trek we could not have asked for better guides in Issack and Sagoche. In writing this review I truly have truly struggled to express just what wonderful individuals they both are. In camp and on the trails they went above and beyond to make our whole group feel welcome and supported, gelling well with our cohort and checking in regularly to make sure all was well. Being an Ecologist by trade I’m admittedly a bit dorky when it comes to encountering new plants and wildlife - but both Issack and Sagoche were enthusiastic in sharing their impressive retinue of knowledge of our surroundings, spending much of our walks teaching me about the flora and fauna native to the mountain as we encountered it. Their experience and commitment to getting our group up the mountain proved invaluable on summit day, with support offered ranging from: lending tips and tricks prior to setting off (like storing your water bottles upside down and in socks, as if it freezes from the top down when upright you can no longer drink through the cap); carrying extra daypacks all the way up to Uhuru peak and back when members of our group became unwell; to most importantly humouring our demands of taking many photos and videos. Within the camp our 10 porters and chef ‘Kadevu’ worked diligently to make sure our stay on the mountain was far more comfortable than we thought possible. We felt able to approach any member of our team with our problems, and never went hungry - receiving three large meals each day. All in all we had a fantastic 7 days hiking the Lemosho route with Zanzi, and shall look back on our time spent on the mountain fondly for many years to come :)

7-day hike to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro - Booked with them a 7-day hiking expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro's Uhuru peak. Communication via email and WhatsApp was prompt and responsive. From picking us up from the hotel to guiding us through the mountain for 7 days, we always felt secure and well taken care of. George, the mountain guide, alongside his team (porters, cook, etc) was extremely experienced and patient. I highly recommend.

Once in a lifetime experience! - Highly recommend Zanzi Trekking & Safari for hiking Mount Kilimanjaro. We did the 7 Day Lemosho route with Guide Charles and Assistant Guides Nestor and Antidius, who looked after the group well and made sure everyone had a safe and enjoyable time. The guides adjusted the pace according to how the group was going so it was the perfect balance between efficient and manageable. Communication was also very clear, and the guides let us know the plan for the day ahead each night. Food prepared by chef Basili was also enjoyable - simple and provided the energy needed for the day ahead. On summit night, the guides carried our backpacks which we didn’t expect but was much needed and Im not sure we could have made it there otherwise. Overall - an amazing experience! Thank you Zanzi!!

10/10 Kilimanjaro Climb with Charles, Nestor and Antidius - The trip with Zanzi up to the summit of Kilimanjaro was absolutely incredible. The guide team of Charles, Nestor and Antidius were phenomenal in both the serious matter of looking after us on the trek and at altitude, but also filling us with positive vibes, boosting morale and throughout enjoying chatting about all matter of things and dancing to the tunes. The chef of the team was fantastic and kept us fuelled through the full week with excellent breakfasts, lunches and dinners that were tasty and different every day. The porter team were fantastic treating us like a big family and greeting us with huge smiles and fist bumps every day and looking after us brilliantly for the week. And a special shout out to the team of summit porters who joined the guide team to carry our bags, watch out for us and give us all important boosts to morale on the way to reaching the summit. All in all I would absolutely recommend Zanzi to anybody wanting to climb Kilimanjaro, and especially the team of Charles, Nestor and Antidius who were simply fantastic!!!

Excellent Kilimanaro Trek Operator - We went with Zanzi on a 7 day Kilimanaro hike (Lemosho route). They were excellent - supportive, helpful, and fun. Particular credit to our lead guide Charles, and guides Nestor and Antidus. Their wider group of porters were all excellent also.

Great experience, recommend Charles and Zanzi - We had a great time doing the 7 day Lemosho route with Zanzi! Food was amazing, the porters all really friendly and helpful. Our guides Charles, Nestor and Antidius were very knowledgeable and looked after us really well. We'd looked at quite a few companies at different price ranges before going with Zanzi, definitely worth it, from what we could see the more expensive tour operators offered a very similar experience to what we had. Can't recommend Zanzi enough, was an amazing experience!

Successful summit to the uhuru peak in the worlds tallest free standing mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro - A few specific requests I made turned out to be instrumental in my successful summit to the uhuru peak in the worlds tallest free standing mountain - Mount Kilimanjaro, and Justin executed every one of them flawlessly. First, he arranged for us to stay at Kosovo Camp, the closest base camp for summit night, which made a significant difference. He also organized dedicated porters and a private toilet, greatly enhancing comfort throughout the climb. The porters consistently arrived at camp ahead of us, had the tents and bedding set up, and welcomed us with hot tea and snacks—something I deeply appreciated after long days on the trail. Most importantly, during the hikes, Justin was attentive and patient, adjusting the pace to match my needs and ensuring proper acclimatization. His thoughtful planning, professionalism, and personal attention all came together to make the experience not only enjoyable but ultimately led to a successful and unforgettable summit of Kilimanjaro.
