Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park - Following a brief morning orientation, the journey begins to Lake Manyara National Park. This compact park extends along the 600-meter-high Rift Valley Escarpment and is characterized by the alkaline Lake Manyara. Here, thousands of flamingos create a pink hue over the shallow waters. Numerous water birds gather at the lake, with over 400 bird species residing in the park. The varied vegetation supports a wide range of wildlife, including monkeys in the forest, giraffes and antelopes on the grasslands, and elephants near the acacia trees. With some luck, you might spot the Manyara lions resting in the trees.
Karatu to Serengeti National Park
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, the drive leads towards the fertile crater highlands where the Iraqw people cultivate wheat, corn, and coffee. Passing the Ngorongoro Crater, you will reach the Serengeti plains around midday. As Tanzania’s largest park, the Serengeti boasts diverse habitats and landscapes, including short grass plains, savannah, dense bush, swamps, mountains, and lakes. Unique rock formations known as Kopjes are scattered across the grassy terrain, often home to predators. Depending on the season, you will witness the renowned migration of thousands of animals. During the short rainy season in November and December, herds move from the northern hills to the southern plains. In the longer rainy season from April to June, they return north. This life cycle relies entirely on annual rainfall, and herd locations may vary each year, but your guide will know the best spots to find and observe the animals.
Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - Early morning is ideal for wildlife observation, so you will rise early for a morning game drive. After returning to camp for breakfast, another game drive in the park awaits. In the Seronera region, wildebeests and zebras are often seen near lions and other predators like leopards and cheetahs. Following a picnic lunch, the journey continues towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon reaching the crater rim, you will be treated to stunning views of this 600-meter-deep collapsed volcano.
Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater - After an early breakfast, the descent begins down the steep and narrow road into the crater. The forested slopes soon give way to savannah. The wildlife here is truly remarkable, and with some luck, you may witness the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard – within a few hours. Additionally, you should see warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, and some of the over 500 bird species in the area. After a morning of game viewing and a picnic lunch, you will depart the crater in the early afternoon, heading back to Arusha, where you will arrive in the early evening.
