Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, travel west from Arusha on a 2.5-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Upon entering the park, you’ll first notice the impressive baobab trees. The gently rolling landscape is adorned with these majestic trees, which seem to dwarf the animals grazing beneath them. Tarangire National Park, covering approximately 2,600 square kilometers, is second only to the Ngorongoro Crater conservation area in terms of wildlife concentration during the dry season. Many migratory wildlife species return to the permanent waters of the Tarangire River, and herds of elephants gather here until the rains begin, prompting them to migrate to new grazing areas.
Safari in Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater, which is about 2,000 feet deep and 14 miles wide. The crater is home to an impressive array of wildlife, with approximately 25,000 animals. Spend the day exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a genuine opportunity to spot the Big Five and numerous other African mammal species. You’ll also witness a stunning variety of habitats, each with its unique wildlife and flora. Take time to stretch your legs and enjoy a picnic lunch at Ngoitokitok Springs, observing the hippos vying for space in the water.
Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara - After breakfast at the lodge, head to Lake Manyara Park to experience the mix of woodlands, open bushes, and the lake. The sausage trees are bustling with blue monkeys and vervets, while bushbuck, waterbuck, baboons, aardvarks, civets, the elusive pangolin, and leopards inhabit the forest. Lake Manyara is renowned for its diverse array of mammals, reptiles, birds, and various types of vegetation, all within a compact area. Along its shores, a vibrant birdlife and a kaleidoscope of species can be found.
After a three to four-hour game drive, return to Arusha with a few stops at souvenir shops along the way. These shops are beautifully decorated and filled with high-quality, authentic artworks, sculptures, antiques, fabrics, and textiles from Tanzania. You will either be dropped off at your overnight accommodation or fly back home.
