Descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains stretching as far as the eye can see. Head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the park’s richest wildlife habitats, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a vital water source and attracts a variety of wildlife representative of the Serengeti’s species. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Serengeti National Park.
Serengeti Plains
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, embark on a game viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River, offering potential sightings of lions, Thomson gazelles, topis, ostriches, and cheetahs. The visitor’s center, located near the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites, is worth visiting after the morning game drive. This well-designed center offers interesting wildlife displays and a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The center also has a shop for cold drinks and snacks, a picnic area, and an information trail around a nearby kopje. Enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the center under the shade of giant acacia trees.
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast at the lodge, depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at Olduvai Gorge, which boasts a history dating back to the dawn of time. It was here that anthropologists Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of the ‘Nutcracker Man’ and ‘Handy Man’, both significant links in human evolution.
Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge and spend the afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay will be as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested on the crater rim, as there is no accommodation available inside the crater.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, descend 600 meters into this magnificent crater for a full-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most densely populated African wildlife areas in the world, home to an estimated 30,000 animals, including some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos. Supported by a year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another major attraction of this picturesque national park is its large population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor.
Ngorongoro Crater to Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the Tarangire River and mainly consists of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation primarily comprises Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with large swamp areas in the south. Both the river and the swamps attract wild animals during Tanzania’s dry season. Tarangire National Park is renowned for having some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This African National Park is also home to three rare animal species – the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings. After a picnic lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive.
