Sailing into Serenity: My Aruba Snorkel Adventure
With the ocean as my playground, I couldn’t resist the allure of the Aruba Morning Snorkel Sail. This half-day adventure promised a blend of relaxation and exploration, and I was eager to dive into the crystalline waters and uncover the secrets of the sea.
Setting Sail on the Caribbean Blue
The morning sun was just beginning to cast its golden glow over the island of Aruba as I made my way to the De Palm Pier. The anticipation of a new adventure had me buzzing with excitement. As a former professional surfer, the ocean has always been my playground, and today, I was ready to explore its depths in a different way. The Aruba Snorkel Sail was calling my name, promising a half-day of sun, sea, and snorkeling.
The De Palm bus arrived promptly at my resort, Eagle Aruba, and I was pleasantly surprised by the cool comfort of the air-conditioned ride. As we made our way to the pier, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of camaraderie with my fellow adventurers. We were all here for the same reason—to experience the magic of Aruba’s underwater world.
Upon arrival, we checked in at the Coconuts store and received our bright yellow passes. Boarding the spacious catamaran, I felt a familiar thrill as we set sail. The gentle sway of the boat and the salty breeze on my face reminded me of my surfing days, and I couldn’t wait to dive in.
Exploring the Underwater Wonders
Our first stop was the famous Antilla Shipwreck, a site that promised a glimpse into history beneath the waves. As I slipped into the water, the cool embrace of the sea was invigorating. The shipwreck lay about 50 feet below, a haunting yet beautiful sight. Schools of fish darted around the rusted hull, creating a vibrant tapestry of life.
Next, we ventured to a spot known for its sea turtles. The water here was shallower, around 15-20 feet deep, and the visibility was incredible. I floated effortlessly, watching as these graceful creatures glided through the water. It was a moment of pure connection with nature, one that I knew I would carry with me long after the trip was over.
Our final snorkeling stop was a shallow reef teeming with colorful fish. The water was less than 10 feet deep, allowing for an up-close encounter with the marine life. As I swam among the coral, I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the opportunity to witness such beauty. The ocean, once again, had shown me its wonders.
A Perfect End to a Perfect Day
Back on the catamaran, it was time to refuel with a delicious lunch. The spread included Caesar salad, cucumber slaw, Pina colada cake, rice, chicken in a curry sauce, and tender fish. While the chicken could have used a bit more seasoning, the meal was satisfying after a morning of exploration.
As we sailed back to the dock, I sipped on an amaretto sour from the open bar, enjoying the lively tunes that filled the air. The crew’s friendly demeanor and the spaciousness of the catamaran made for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. It was the perfect way to unwind after an exhilarating adventure.
Arriving back at the pier, I felt a sense of fulfillment. The Aruba Snorkel Sail had delivered on its promise of an unforgettable experience. For anyone seeking a blend of relaxation and adventure, this excursion is a must. Just remember to bring a towel and a waterproof case for your camera—though sometimes, it’s nice to simply be present and soak in the moment.
