Exploring Aruba’s Wild Side: A Jeep Safari Adventure
When the call of adventure beckoned, I couldn’t resist the allure of Aruba’s rugged landscapes. Trading my surfboard for a 4x4 Jeep, I embarked on a journey to discover natural bridges and hidden pools, guided by the spirited Kean and Chris. Join me as I recount a day filled with thrills, breathtaking sights, and a touch of unexpected drama.
Revving Up for Adventure
The sun was just beginning to rise over the Caribbean horizon as I found myself eagerly awaiting the start of a new adventure. Having spent countless days riding the waves, I was ready to trade my surfboard for a 4x4 Jeep and explore the rugged terrain of Aruba. The promise of discovering natural bridges and hidden pools was too enticing to resist. As I joined the group at the Divi, I was greeted by Kean, our guide for the day, whose infectious energy set the tone for what was to come.
Kean and Chris, our other guide, were the perfect duo, ensuring that everyone felt safe and excited. We were a mixed group, some opting for ATVs while others, like myself, chose the 2-seater UTV. The thrill of the ride was immediate, as we navigated the dusty trails with the wind in our hair and the sun on our backs. The landscape was a stark contrast to the serene beaches I was used to, but it was beautiful in its own wild way. The guides were attentive, making sure we were all comfortable and informed about the sights we were passing.
Discovering Hidden Gems
Our first stop was the Natural Bridge, a stunning formation that seemed to defy gravity. The guides shared stories of its creation, and I couldn’t help but marvel at nature’s artistry. We continued to Andicuri Beach, where the waves crashed against the shore with a force that reminded me of my surfing days. It was a brief stop, but the view was unforgettable.
The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the New Natural Pool Cave. The descent was a bit challenging, with rocky paths that required sturdy shoes and a steady grip. But once we reached the bottom, the sight was breathtaking. Crystal clear waters surrounded by volcanic rocks created a secluded paradise. Some of the more adventurous in our group took the opportunity to cliff jump, their laughter echoing off the cave walls. I opted to simply float in the pool, letting the cool water wash over me as I soaked in the moment.
A Bittersweet Farewell
As the tour came to an end, we made our way back to the starting point, dusty but exhilarated. The camaraderie among the group was palpable, and I felt a sense of gratitude for having shared this experience with such a wonderful bunch of people. However, the day took an unexpected turn as we boarded the bus back to our hotel.
Our driver, an older gentleman, seemed distracted and uninterested in his task. Despite being reminded multiple times of our destination, he managed to miss our stop, leading to a frustrating detour. His demeanor was a stark contrast to the warmth and enthusiasm of our guides, and it was disappointing to end the day on such a note. Nevertheless, the memories of the adventure remained untarnished, and I would wholeheartedly recommend the Jeep Safari to anyone seeking a taste of Aruba’s wild side.
In the end, it was a day of discovery and excitement, a reminder of the beauty that lies beyond the beaches and the thrill of exploring the unknown. Until next time, keep chasing those adventures, my friends.
