- RanaSella - Asturiana School of Canoeing - The Descent of the Sella by canoe or kayak is one of the premier adventure sports activities in Asturias. It is renowned due to the International Descent of the Sella, a sporting event held every first Saturday in August (after the 2nd) that attracts athletes from around the globe. Participants are invited to safely navigate the river in a kayak or canoe from our facilities to one of several designated endpoints. The journey covers the river stretch between Arriondas and Llovio (16 km) in Ribadesella, with options for shorter routes available, such as the Toraño bridge (7 km), Llordón (11 km), and the aforementioned Llovio. From each endpoint, transportation is provided back to the starting point. Originating in the Picos de Europa, this lower section of the Sella flows through a picturesque landscape of meadows and riverside vegetation, featuring Atlantic-type trees and diverse wildlife, including salmon, numerous bird species, and mammals like the otter.
