Arequipa / Mirador De Tapay / San Juan De Chuccho
Arequipa - Departure is scheduled between 03:00 am and 03:30 am from the hotel in Arequipa, heading towards the Colca Valley. The journey to Chivay, the main town in the Valley, will take about 4 hours. Upon arrival, breakfast will be served before continuing to Cabanaconde, which is approximately a two and a half hour drive. From there, the trek begins, descending into the Colca Canyon, which will take around 3½ to 4 hours. During the descent, the diverse vegetation ranging from Andean to tropical can be admired, along with the geological formations of the Colca Canyon, part of the Andes mountain range.
Upon reaching the canyon’s base, the suspension bridge of San Juan de Chuccho will be crossed to reach the town of the same name. Here, the night will be spent in local homes adapted for tourists, offering basic accommodation.
San Juan / Sangalle (Oasis)
Oasis Sangalle - After breakfast, the tour resumes with an ascent of approximately 300 meters to reach the villages of Cosnihua and then Malata. The unique lifestyle of the residents can be observed, as these villages lack vehicular access. The descent continues to Sangalle (Oasis), a place created by the Andean people, featuring a mix of high Andean and tropical vegetation. Thanks to a warm water spring, visitors can enjoy a refreshing swim in the pools, with water temperatures around 18ºC. Lunch will be served, and the second night will be spent here.
Oasis / Cabanaconde / Chivay / Arequipa
Cabanaconde - At 04:30 am, the ascent begins on a zigzagging and steep path, taking approximately 3 hours to complete this rewarding route. Breakfast will be enjoyed at a local restaurant before heading to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint. This renowned viewpoint offers one of the most breathtaking views of the Colca Canyon, where the majestic flight of the condors can often be seen. The journey continues back to Chivay, with an opportunity to visit La Calera and relax in the soothing hot springs. Lunch will be provided before returning to Arequipa, with an estimated arrival between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
