- Tennoji Temple - This Buddhist temple, dating back to 1274, is located at the edge of Yanaka Cemetery. Nestled in a serene garden behind an old wooden gate, it features a bronze Buddhist statue from 1690, cherished by locals as “Tennoji no Daibutsu”. A visit is highly recommended.
- Yanaka Cemetery - An impressive cemetery worth visiting, even though it’s not a typical tourist route. Spanning 100,000 square meters with over 7,000 graves, it has a history extending over 100 years post-Meiji Restoration, when the government sought to separate Buddhist and Shinto graves. Most graves here are Buddhist, leading to the establishment of a public burial ground in Yanaka in 1871.
