These bands include swans, intricate foliage, and four animals symbolizing life’s stages: growth, energy, power, and forbearance. The outermost band depicts flames, representing a fire altar. Sandakada pahana is a distinctive element of ancient Sinhalese architecture.
• Rathna Prasadaya | මුරගල - Initially, the Guardstones supporting the heavy stone balustrade were plain. Over time, they were adorned with symbols of prosperity and protection.
• Main Refectory Of Abayagiri Monastery - The Main Refectory of Abhayagiriya, located in the ancient monastery of Abhayagiriya in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka, served as the dining hall for monks. Situated near Uttara Mula, it is a square building measuring 42.7m per side. Excavations reveal four construction stages dating back to the 1st century BC. Danasalas, typically rectangular, feature a single-story pillared structure with a sunken central courtyard, multiple entrances, stone rice troughs, kitchen facilities, and a drainage system. The stone rice trough is a notable feature.
