Well worth the money - It’s a unique experience You don’t need a horse to get you up if you’re healthy. It’s not very hard. Your shoes will get super dusty

Do it do it do it!! - As a solo traveler that was the most fun and safe experience ever the guides are the sweetest ever. I road the horse which is 300 q or 40 usd dollars definitely worth it! The view was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

Antigua to pecaya - Bus ride from Antigua was about 1.5 hours. We decided to take the horses up and back and made taking in the scenery amazing. Was 120 us for 2 horses up and down. Volcanoes is beautiful and sunset was amazing. All guides were super friendly and knowledgeable. Truly a beautiful experience!

We made it--tour was all we needed! - This was a tough hike for non-hikers and two kids, but the guide made sure we stayed together and there were breaks. The marshmallows were abundant. Factor in you won't leave for awhile after being picked up and drop off will be at the square

Magical experience above the Clouds - The hike was a good length and challenge for anyone that is moderately fit. Horses were available for those who were not. The views were breathtaking. Guide kept the group together and safe.

No marshmallows were roasted 😂🥲 - Hike was great! A little challenging at the end but if you’re a seasoned hiker it won’t be too hard. Took off one star for the “marshmallow gimmick”. Nobody successfully roasted a marshmallow. There wasn’t enough heat to roast anything and everyone ate un-cooked marshmallows. Too many ppl in that area to even try. Think they should eliminate that part of the tour cause it was pretty pointless. View and sunset were beautiful and worth the hike.

My first comment will be... - My first comment will be about paying in American USD- although you will be allowed to pay in USD for your ticket(s), they will give you 7Q per dollar in change. Example being, that I overpaid by $10 USD and received 70Q in return. Also, as for the horses/taxis- if you need a horse to take you up, remember that negotiating price is acceptable in Guatemala, but be clear on your expectations of what you’re getting for that price. My friend needed a horse because she started feeling ill during the hike up but they took it away from her after we reached the peak of our climb. The walking sticks/canes that the kids sell/loan you are not a bad thing to consider either. Just some things to consider for your pocket book! The ride to the volcano was a nice bus that sat about 25 people. It was comfortable and air conditioned! The hike was steep but definitely doable even if you are not an avid hiker/strenuous activity participant on a regular basis. Something to keep in mind is that the guides are diligent in staying on schedule and do not really afford you much time to stop and rest outside of the specific rest areas along the path. When you get to roast marshmallows, do not picture campfire s’mores- you will rest your skewer into a warm pocket in the ground and will have a soft, warm marshmallow (no burnt and crispy ones here) that is a nice treat.

Great Scenery, Poorly Managed Tour - The views at the top were beautiful, but the overall experience was disappointing. The tour began with a 30‑minute stop at a coffee shop, which was not mentioned in the itinerary and felt unnecessary, cutting into the actual hiking time. The hike itself is steep, and instead of being able to pace yourself, there was constant pressure from the guide and horse providers. Every time you paused for even a few seconds to catch your breath, the guide would insist on asking if you wanted a horse, despite us repeatedly saying we would ask if needed. While the guide explained it was his job to check on everyone, the repeated questioning made the climb stressful rather than supportive. With horses surrounding you and people persistently offering rides, it felt more like a race than a hike. The wasted time at the coffee shop could have been better spent allowing hikers to enjoy the trail at a comfortable pace. Once away from the guide and horse providers, the hike became much more enjoyable. Everyone reached the top together, had time for photos, and appreciated the views. Unfortunately, the pressure throughout most of the hike overshadowed the experience. If you prefer a relaxed climb without feeling rushed or nagged, this tour may not be for you.

Harder than you think, bring flashlight!!!! - The first 1.75 miles are straight up hill. Our guide paused for one announcement and one view point but seemed irritated if you needed to stop to rest outside of that or if you were going slower than the rest. They pressured us A LOT to rent horses just because we needed to rest or go slower. Like, A LOT. The guide kept judging, manipulating, and pressuring us, saying that everyone was waiting for us (not true), that it would be our fault if we took so long the group had to hike down in the dark (we waited at the top for a long time to watch the sun set all together as planned, so we were going to walk a bit in the dark anyway no matter what), and that the shuttle might not wait for us at the bottom (also a lie). When he finally stopped saying this, he still hovered over us judgmentally. It really took the enjoyment out of it. The tour info should have asked everyone to bring a flashlight. Since waiting to watch the sun set at the top is part of the tour, the last 15-20 minutes are in utter darkness, which is really unsafe. We kept tripping over rocks and nearly falling, and the guide was way ahead leaving us behind, even though we were truly hiking down at a fast pace (nearly jogging). I had to use my phone flash light for part of it, but my phone was dying from taking so many photos.

Experience - The tour was very fast, we were not all together. I couldn't walk that fast and they went ahead and we were behind. We found another group that accompanied us. I had a fall and grace to those other people nothing serious happened
