Begin your journey with the Mykonos Tour on the morning of May 24th or 25th, where the adventure kicks off at 8:00 AM. This tour is a picturesque journey through Mykonos, starting from the tranquil Agios Ioannis, offering breathtaking views of Delos.
As you make your way to Ano Mera, the island’s most traditional village, the Monastery of Panagia Tourliani awaits. This 16th-century architectural masterpiece is not just a building but a living piece of history, brimming with stories of the past. The monastery’s intricate design and spiritual ambiance provide a perfect backdrop for reflection and appreciation of Mykonos’ cultural heritage. The tour continues past the beautiful beaches of Kalafatis and Kalo Livadi, where the golden sands meet crystal-clear waters, offering a moment of relaxation amidst your cultural exploration.
A Taste of Tradition
As the sun begins to set, immerse yourself in the flavors of Greece with a visit to the Mykonian Farm for a wine tasting experience. Available on both May 24th and 25th, with sessions starting at 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM, this activity is a must for wine enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike. The farm, located in the center of Ano Mera, offers a unique opportunity to discover and taste the finest Greek wines.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the cult sommelier, Mr. Stathis Pasoglou, who will guide you through the tasting of four distinct local wines. Each sip is a journey through Greece’s rich viticultural history, accompanied by a snack of local products. The experience is not just about tasting wine but understanding the cultural significance and history behind each blend. As one reviewer noted on April 16, 2025:
Wine and cats: the winning combo - This is the first time I’ve done a wine tasting like this. The history of wine has been presented to us through the ages and we were able to taste 4 wines: one white, one rosé and two red, all made in Mykonos and exclusively for use in these tastings. The host was a great connoisseur and taught us a lot about Greece, its culture, the language and even our own country; France. Thanks again for this timeless moment with Miko, Santo and Tiger.
Sunset Serenity at Armenistis Lighthouse
Conclude your cultural heritage weekend with a visit to the Armenistis Lighthouse, a historic landmark that offers one of the most breathtaking sunset views on the island. As the sun sets over the Aegean, the sky bursts into shades of orange, pink, and deep purple, casting a magical glow over the sea. This lighthouse, constructed in 1891 following a tragic shipwreck, stands as a timeless beacon guiding sailors through the strait between Mykonos and Tinos.
Although no longer operational, the lighthouse remains a serene spot for reflection and appreciation of Mykonos’ maritime history. The journey to the lighthouse is a fitting end to your exploration of Ano Mera, offering a moment of tranquility and connection with the island’s past. As you stand on the cliff, watching the sun dip below the horizon, you are reminded of the enduring beauty and cultural richness that Mykonos has to offer.
This cultural heritage weekend in Ano Mera is more than just a getaway; it’s an invitation to step back in time and experience the island’s history and traditions firsthand.
