Stroll through the charming alleys of the old town with a guide, uncovering intriguing corners and secrets brimming with stories from 390 B.C., the year of its founding, through Roman and medieval times.

Experience history not just by listening, but by living it! In Massimo’s workshop, a master of color, participate in a dyeing workshop where you will craft an artistic placemat dyed with the blue of woad. This is a one-of-a-kind experience to take home a special memory of Ancona, the city that etched its history in purple red and woad blue!

Engage in a hands-on dyeing workshop at the ford to deeply connect with the historical heritage of this ancient Maritime Republic.

Alongside exploring the city’s history, participants will learn the art of natural dyeing with plants in a craft workshop featuring an extraordinary botanical collection!

Participants will dye a canvas of Marche hemp in blue ford using the “shibori” technique, an art form originating from the East. Create a personalized placemat to showcase your creativity. Through artistic bindings, folds, wooden tablets, and twines, participants will prepare their placemat to soak briefly in the dye bath. Upon removal, witness the enchanting color that sets on the fabric as it reacts with air, and finally, admire your masterpiece!
