- Westerkerk - Constructed between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style, the Westerkerk was designed by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621), who is interred in the earlier church he designed, the ‘Zuiderkerk’. The completion of Westerkerk was overseen by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and was inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church measures 58 meters in length and 29 meters in width. The high nave is accompanied by two lower aisles. This three-aisled basilica features a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal size, forming two connected Greek crosses.
