About the Park:
Kumana National Park is situated on the southeastern coast of Sri Lanka. In 1938, this area, then part of the eastern section of Yala Wildlife Reserve, was recognized as a crucial bird nesting and breeding ground in Sri Lanka and was designated as Kumana Sanctuary. In 2006, the sanctuary was separated from Yala National Park and officially named ‘Kumana National Park.’
